Surface Modes In Physics written by Bo E. Sernelius and has been published by John Wiley & Sons this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2011-04-27 with Science categories.

Electromagnetic surface modes are present at all surfaces and interfaces between material of different dielectric properties. These modes have very important effects on numerous physical quantities: adhesion, capillary force, step formation and crystal growth, the Casimir effect etc. They cause surface tension and wetting and they give rise to forces which are important e.g. for the stability of colloids. This book is a useful and elegant approach to the topic, showing how the concept of electromagnetic modes can be developed as a unifying theme for a range of condensed matter physics. The author concentrates in finding out the basic origin of the force and how they are developed from the collective excitations of the solids. Different materials are treated, e.g. metals, semiconductors, plasmas, liquids and gases all with different collective modes. In close relation to the theoretical background, the reader is served with a broad field of applications. The book serves readers who are concerned with applications to real world problems with a deep knowledge on surface modes, and inspires new developments of the field.

Immunosensing For Detection Of Protein Biomarkers written by Huangxian Ju and has been published by Elsevier this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2017-05-18 with Science categories.

Immunosensing for Detection of Protein Biomarkers not only introduces the principles, methods, and classification of immunoassay, but also presents the latest achievements in areas such as electrochemical immunosensors, nanoprobe-based immunoassay, chemiluminescence immunoassay, electrochemiluminescent immunoassay, multianalyte immunoassay, optical imaging for immunoassay, signal amplification for immunoassay, and so on. In recent years, immunosensing and immunoassay methods have attracted considerable interest due to their applications in different fields, particularly clinical diagnosis. Although a large number of academic papers in immunosensing and immunoassay have been published in different journals recently, it is still a difficult and time-consuming task for researchers, especially those new to the area, to understand the principles, methods, and research progress of immunosensing. Based on the research experience of the authors and their research groups, this book offers readers with new research ideas to develop immunosensing methodology. As a monograph, it offers deeper and more complete coverage than review papers, which only report certain aspects of progress. Grounded in the research experience of Professor Ju's research group, the book focuses on immunosensing for detection of protein biomarkers, summarizing understanding, research, and practice on immunosensing methodology in detection of protein biomarkers. - Presents the latest research and thinking on immunosensing for detection of protein biomarkers - Offers current techniques, and looks to the development of new methodologies - Offers the latest developments in various aspects of immunosensing, including electrochemiluminescent immunoassay, multianalyte immunoassay, optical imaging immunoassay, and signal amplification immunoassay - Offers readers new ideas to research and develop immunosensing methodologies for the future

Wide Bandgap Semiconductors written by Kiyoshi Takahashi and has been published by Springer Science & Business Media this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2007-04-12 with Technology & Engineering categories.

The p–n junction was invented in the ?rst half of the twentieth century and the latter half saw the birth of light emitting diodes: red and yellow/green in the 1960s and yellow in the 1970s. However, theoretical predictions of the improbabilityofsynthesizingp-typewidebandgapsemiconductorscastalong shadow over hopes for devices emitting in the elusive blue part of the elect- magnetic spectrum, which would complete, with red and green, the quest for the primary colors making up white light. At a time when many researchers abandoned their e?orts on nitrides, Professor Isamu Akasaki of Nagoya U- versity at this time remained committed to his belief that “synthesis of high quality GaN crystals would eventually enable p-type doping” and in 1989 he succeeded in fabricating the world’s ?rst GaN p–n junction light emitting diode. Professor Isamu Akasaki kindly accepted our invitation to contribute to this book and describes his journey ‘from the nitride wilderness’ to the ?rst experimental results of blue emission from GaN p–n junctions: Japan’s major contribution to the development of wide bandgap semiconductor devices. The discovery of blue emission from GaN p–n junctions in 1989 was the major technological turning point during the development of wide bandgap emission devices with wide reaching scienti?c, industrial and social impli- tions.
