A mark that led them to transcend Judaism, giving it a universal significance. The establishment of their own State meant, in effect, not only emancipating the Jewish people from the Gentiles who dominated them, but, and this is much more decisive, from God himself, who humiliated them through those same Gentiles and from the messianic hope of the second coming of the Messiah, who chained them by means of hope to wait. Once created, this State would free it from all yoke and elevate it to a finally "chosen" people. Zionism, the theoretical-practical movement created by Hess, Pinsker and Herzl, in fact substituted hope for action and God for man: it was, in short, the Jew himself who had to create the means that would liberate him and dignify him as a man on earth.

La lectura de este libro, Los mitos fundacionales del Estado de Israel no debe crear ninguna confusión, ni religiosa ni política. La crítica de la interpretación sionista de la Thora, y de los libros histó ricos (especialmente los de Josué, Samuel y los Reyes) no implica, en absoluto una infravaloración de la Biblia y lo que ella ha revelado, incluso, sobre la epopeya de la humanización y la divinización del hombre. El sacrificio de Abraham es un modelo eterno de la superación por el hombre de sus morales provisorias y de sus frágiles lógicas en el nombre de valores incondicionales que los relativizan. Lo mismo que el Exodo ha quedado como el símbolo del desarraigo de todas las servidumbres, de la llamada irresistible de Dios a la libertad. Lo que nosotros rechazamos, es la lectura sionista, tribal y nacionalista, de estos textos, reduciendo la idea gigante de la Alianza de Dios con el hombre, con todos los hombres, y su presencia en todos, y sacando de ello la idea más maléfica de la Historia de la humanidad: la del pueblo elegido por un Dios parcial y partidista (y en consecuencia un ídolo) que justifica por adelantado todas las dominaciones, las colonizaciones y las matanzas. Como si, en el mundo, no hubiera existido más Historia Sagrada que la de los Hebreos. De mi demostración, de la que ningún eslabón ha sido aportado sin precisar la fuente, no se desprende para nada la idea de la destrucción del Estado de Israel sino simplemente su desacralización: esta tierra, más que ninguna otra, no fue nunca prometida sino conquistada, igual que Francia, Alemania o los Estados Unidos en función de las correlaciones de fuerzas históricas de cada siglo. Así que les pregunto: ¿quién es culpable? ¿Quién comete el crimen o quién lo denuncia? ¿El que busca la verdad o el que busca silenciarla?

El atentado del 7 de octubre fue atroz, pero hay que analizarlo y no solo condenarlo, y debemos hacerlo reuniendo todas las herramientas críticas de la investigación histórica. Si la guerra de Gaza acabara en una segunda Nakba, la legitimidad de Israel se vería completamente comprometida. En ese caso, ni las armas estadounidenses, ni los medios de comunicación occidentales, ni la distorsionada y la memoria distorsionada e indignada de la Shoah podrán redimirlo.
