Malam Sivaratri yang jatuh pada Purwanining Tilem Kapitu merupakan malam tergelap dari malam-malam yang ada. Sangat relevan sekali apabila dikorelasikan dengan malam Sivaratri yang merupakan malam tergelap sejagad raya. Buku ini merupakan karya kedua penulis setelah menyelesaikan karya pertamanya "Tato Radjah dalam Perspektif Hindu" (2018). Buku ini adalah sebagian kecil dari banyaknya pengetahuan dalam ruang lingkup astronomi. Penulis mencoba memberikan suatu pemahaman tentang relasi antara Sivaratri dan gerhana bulan dalam sudut pandang sains dan spiritual. Sivaratri juga terkait dengan bagaimana umat manusia menghancurkan kegelapan dalam hatinya. Sebagaimana Dewa Siva yang adalah pelebur alam semesta, hari Sivaratri juga bermakna peleburan tujuh kegelapan dalam diri manusia yang disebut dengan Sapta Timira.
