Studienarbeit aus dem Jahr 2009 im Fachbereich Geschichte - Amerika, Universität Bayreuth, Sprache: Deutsch, Abstract: Die Migration schwarzer Bevölkerungen in die "Neue Welt" auf Grund von Sklavenarbeit in der frühen Neuzeit bis hinein ins 19. Jahrhundert veränderte die Welt und das Gesicht des amerikanischen Kontinentes. Die vorliegende Arbeit geht dieser Migrationsbewegung nach und zeigt auf, wie diese nicht nur die Welt, sondern besonders die Entwicklung Europas beeinflusst hat. Sklaverei war im Europa der Frühen Neuzeit kein neues Phänomen, das plötzlich aus heiterem Himmel entstanden ist. Seit der Antike gab es Sklaverei; zunächst nur im Mittelmeerraum angesiedelt und danach, ab dem Frühmittelalter und dem Aufkommen des Feudalsystems, auch im restlichen Europa unter der Bezeichnung „Leibeigenschaft“. Doch auch in Afrika gab es bereits vor Ankunft der Europäer, vor allem in der westafrikanischen Küstenregion, eine Sklaventradition. Doch was war anders an der europäischen Variante des Sklavenhandels, den zunächst die Portugiesen initiierten und die Spanier etablierten und die anderen Kolonialmächte perfektionierten? In dieser Hausarbeit soll der Frage nachgegangen werden, warum Sklaven aus Afrika nach Amerika deportiert worden sind. Mit welcher Begründung haben die Europäer diese Verschleppung organisiert? Was waren die vermeintlichen Vorzüge schwarzer Zwangsarbeiter im Gegensatz zu europäischen oder indigenen Arbeitern? Was versprachen sich die Kolonialherren davon und wie wirkte sich der Einsatz von Sklaven auf die Wirtschaft der Kolonien und der Mutterländer in Europa aus? Zunächst werde ich auf die Sklaventradition in Afrika vor der Ankunft der Europäer eingehen, um danach die Sklaverei in Afrika zu beleuchten, die nach der europäischen Ankunft stattfand. Daraufhin werde ich der Frage nachgehen, was aus europäischer Sicht afrikanische Sklaven für die Neue Welt so attraktiv gemacht hat, um letztendlich die Auswirkungen der Sklaverei auf die Wirtschaft der Kolonien und der Mutterländer in Europa zu schildern. Hierbei werde ich mich auf die gesamte Frühe Neuzeit beziehen, da es mir in dieser Hausarbeit primär darum geht, einen Überblick über den Sklavenhandel als solcher aus europäischer Sicht zu geben und zu begründen, warum der Sklavenhandel so wichtig für das Wachstum der Kolonialwirtschaft (in den Kolonien und in der Metropolis) war.
