Dieses Buch enthält eine Sammlung von Aufgaben, wie sie typischerweise in Übungen und Prüfungen zur Einführungsvorlesung in die Informatik gestellt werden. Es ist speziell abgestimmt auf das bereits erschienene Lehrbuch von Appelrath und 1 Ludewig (im Rest des Buches kurz "Skriptum" genannt) und soll dem Lernenden helfen, den umfangreichen Stoff aktiv aufzuarbeiten. Der beste Weg dazu ist, die neuen Konzepte und Vorgehensweisen selbst anzuwenden. Bei der Auswahl und Überarbeitung der Aufgaben wurde besonders auf eine genaue Orientierung am Skriptum geachtet, angefangen bei vordergründigen Dingen wie dem Layout und der Reihenfolge der Themen bis hin zu den verwendeten Begriffen und dem Umfang des Stoffes. Das Skriptum wird hier durch Aufgaben illustriert; nicht mehr und kaum weniger als der Stoff des Skriptums wird vorausgesetzt. Dieser Übungsband sollte damit jedem, der sich den Inhalt des Skriptums aneignen will, eine wertvolle Hilfe sein, sei es zum reinen Selbststudium, als Begleitung einer Vorlesung oder zum "Pauken" vor der Prüfung. Dieses Buch kann nicht die üblichen vorlesungsbegleitenden Übungen ersetzen. Das Lernen in der Gemeinschaft bietet in vieler Hinsicht Möglichkeiten, die ein Buch nicht bieten kann, vor allem Antwort auf Einzelfragen und die gezielte Hilfe bei Ver ständnisschwierigkeiten. Ebensowenig kann und soll dieses Buch "die Praxis" darstellen und einüben. Der Leser muß sich darüber im Klaren sein, daß die Aufgaben kaum mehr als Sand kastenspiele sind, verglichen mit der tatsächlichen Berufspraxis eines Informatikers.

"Liberal order and software-agents" - long-established ideas and modern technology are bridged. The impulse for undertaking this effort comes from the observation that it becomes difficult for computer science alone to create order for and within machines. The growing complexity of computer systems, open networks like the Internet, and the increasingly social role of software entities push the traditional quest for total global control out of reach. Economic theory of social order offers extensive experience with such conditions, so that it can complement and guide research in computer science. It is shown that a common understanding between economics and computer science's sub-field of distributed artificial intelligence is possible on the level of software-agents. On this basis, four fundamental problems of social order are encircled: first, the requirement to overcome and prevent state of nature situations in the sense of Thomas Hobbes; second, the necessity to accommodate unpredictable individual actors; third, the challenge of exiting the small worlds of traditional software systems; and fourth, the ambition to reach a transaction cost efficient social order. Economics can contribute to an understanding and to possible solutions of these problems by unfolding the idea of liberal order for software-agents. In a systematic analysis that covers the order of rules, the model of the individual actor, and the order of actions, it is shown that the conditions for liberal order can be created, without exception, in agent-environments

Bereits seit den Anfängen des Patentrechts sind Algorithmen als mathematische Methoden von einer Patentierung ausgeschlossen. Während dieser Ausschluss einerseits nur noch selten in Frage gestellt wird, erlangt andererseits die Patentierung von Computerprogrammen bzw. computerimplementierten Erfindungen eine immer größere Bedeutung in der Praxis, obwohl jedem Computerprogramm ein Algorithmus zugrunde liegt. Angesichts dieses augenscheinlichen Widerspruchs stellt sich die Frage, ob und gegebenenfalls unter welchen Umständen Algorithmen einem Patentschutz zugänglich sein sollen – und damit auch die sie umsetzenden Computerprogramme.
