The field of application-specific integrated circuits (ASICs) is fast-paced being at the very forefront of modern nanoscale fabrication and presents a deeply engaging career path. ASICs can provide us with high-speed computation in the case of digital circuits. For example, central processing units, graphics processing units, field-programmable gate arrays, and custom-made digital signal processors are examples of ASICs and the transistors they are fabricated from. We can use that same technology complementary metal-oxide semiconductor processes to implement high-precision sensing of or interfacing to the world through analog-to-digital converters, digital-to-analog converters, custom image sensors, and highly integrated micron-scale sensors such as magnetometers, accelerometers, and microelectromechanical machines. ASIC technologies now transitioning toward magneto-resistive and phase-changing materials also offer digital memory capacities that have aided our technological progress. Combining these domains, we have moved toward big data analytics and the new era of artificial intelligence and machine learning. This book provides a small selection of chapters covering aspects of ASIC development and the surrounding business model.

“Tools alone aren't enough to reduce dynamic and leakage power in complex chip designs - a well-planned methodology is needed. Following in the footsteps of the successful Reuse Methodology Manual (RMM), authors from ARM and Synopsys have written this Low Power Methodology Manual (LPMM) to describe [such] [a] low-power methodology with a practical, step-by-step approach.” Richard Goering, Software Editor, EE Times “Excellent compendium of low-power techniques and guidelines with balanced content spanning theory and practical implementation. The LPMM is a very welcome addition to the field of low power SoC implementation that has for many years operated in a largely ad-hoc fashion.” Sujeeth Joseph, Chief Architect - Semiconductor and Systems Solutions Unit, Wipro Technologies “The LPMM enables broader adoption of aggressive power management techniques based on extensive experience and silicon example with real data that every SOC designer can use to meet the difficulties faced in managing the power issues in deep submicron designs.” Anil Mankar, Sr VP Worldwide Core Engineering and Chief Development Officer, Conexant Systems Inc. “Managing power, at 90nm and below, introduces significant challenges to design flow. The LPMM is a timely and immediately useful book that shows how combination of tools, IP and methodology can be used together to address power management.” Nick Salter, Head of Chip Integration, CSR plc.

Fundamentals Of Layout Design For Electronic Circuits written by Jens Lienig and has been published by Springer Nature this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2020-03-19 with Technology & Engineering categories.
This book covers the fundamental knowledge of layout design from the ground up, addressing both physical design, as generally applied to digital circuits, and analog layout. Such knowledge provides the critical awareness and insights a layout designer must possess to convert a structural description produced during circuit design into the physical layout used for IC/PCB fabrication. The book introduces the technological know-how to transform silicon into functional devices, to understand the technology for which a layout is targeted (Chap. 2). Using this core technology knowledge as the foundation, subsequent chapters delve deeper into specific constraints and aspects of physical design, such as interfaces, design rules and libraries (Chap. 3), design flows and models (Chap. 4), design steps (Chap. 5), analog design specifics (Chap. 6), and finally reliability measures (Chap. 7). Besides serving as a textbook for engineering students, this book is a foundational reference for today’s circuit designers. For Slides and Other Information: https://www.ifte.de/books/pd/index.html

This book provides a structured and comprehensive pathway through the complexities of Electronic Design Automation (EDA) tools and processes. It focuses on OpenLane and Caravel EDA tools, due to their current major role in the open-source IC design ecosystem. OpenLane provides a robust and flexible platform that automates the entire digital design flow from Register Transfer Level (RTL) to Graphic Data System II (GDSII), making it an ideal tool for teaching and learning the physical design process. Caravel, on the other hand, serves as an open-source System on a Chip (SoC) platform, allowing designers to integrate and test their designs in a versatile, real-world environment. It complements OpenLane by enabling users to package and validate their designs, bridging the gap between theoretical knowledge and practical implementation. Together, these tools provide a way to understand the full tape-out process in a way that is accessible to students, researchers, and professionals alike.
