Taking Nanjing old south area as an example, this research analyses the changes and problems of the plot division mechanism since 1949 and its impact on urban forms. Changes in the plot division mechanism show that megaplots have been a constant in the ever-changing land development system since 1949, leading to elimination of historic land subdivisions. In this sense, it is necessary to establish a set of smart plot division strategies to promote the restoration of this historic urban area.

Intelligent Electrical Protection In Traditional Networks And Smart Grids written by Salman Rezaei and has been published by Cambridge Scholars Publishing this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2025-02-20 with Business & Economics categories.

The main objective of this book is to enlighten readers on the automatic protection, control, and monitoring of power systems. The focus is on the development of intelligent protective algorithms to combat ferroresonance and Sub-Synchronous Resonance (SSR) in both traditional networks and smart grids. Initially, the book covers the theoretical aspects of ferroresonance, SSR, and protective relays. It then discusses the occurrence of ferroresonance and SSR in the grid, and the impact of these phenomena on the operation of electrical components and a variety of protective relays. Intelligent algorithms are designed and tested for various types of protective relays. The book also introduces a power automation system known as the Universal Protection, Control, and Power Energy Management Centre (UPCPEMC). This SCADA-based centre includes hardware components and new software for simulation, analysis, protection, control, and power system component design. Additionally, it includes power and energy management programs that are suitable for use in both traditional networks and smart grids.

Following the events of The Last Colony, John Scalzi tells the story of the fight to maintain the unity of the human race. The people of Earth now know that the human Colonial Union has kept them ignorant of the dangerous universe around them. For generations the CU had defended humanity against hostile aliens, deliberately keeping Earth an ignorant backwater and a source of military recruits. Now the CU's secrets are known to all. Other alien races have come on the scene and formed a new alliance—an alliance against the Colonial Union. And they've invited the people of Earth to join them. For a shaken and betrayed Earth, the choice isn't obvious or easy. Against such possibilities, managing the survival of the Colonial Union won't be easy, either. It will take diplomatic finesse, political cunning...and a brilliant "B Team," centered on the resourceful Lieutenant Harry Wilson, that can be deployed to deal with the unpredictable and unexpected things the universe throws at you when you're struggling to preserve the unity of the human race. Being published online from January to April 2013 as a three-month digital serial, The Human Division will appear as a full-length novel of the Old Man's War universe, plus—for the first time in print—the first tale of Lieutenant Harry Wilson, and a coda that wasn't part of the digital serialization. The FAO estimated that five out of six farms in the world are operating less than two hectares of land, suggesting that small-holder farmers are producing over one-third of the global food. The cropping systems practiced by smallholder farmers play a vital role in agri-food production systems and help to reduce hunger, improve nutrition, and provide livelihoods to millions across the developing countries. The performance of these cropping systems has a direct impact on achieving the multiple Sustainable Development Goals (2030) of No Poverty (SDG 1), Zero Hunger (SDG 2), and Good Health and Wellbeing (SDG 3). System intensification is now widely recognized as an essential pathway to achieve food and nutrition security in developing countries. The numbers of smallholder farmers are rapidly increasing in both developing and underdeveloped countries, however, they are increasingly facing challenges to run profitably. Cropping system intensification (CSI) could be one of the ways to make such production systems more remunerative for these farmers.

Smart Cities written by Mark Deakin and has been published by Routledge this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2013-08-22 with Architecture categories.

Smart city development has emerged a major issue over the past 5 years. Since the launch of IBM’s Smart Planet and CISCO’s Smart Cities and Communities programmes, their potential to deliver on global sustainable development targets have captured the public’s attention. However, despite this growing interest in the development of smart cities, little has as yet been published that either sets out the state-of-the-art, or which offers a less than subjective, arm’s length and dispassionate account of their potential contribution. This book brings together cutting edge research and the findings from technical development projects from leading authorities within the field to capture the transition to smart cities. It explores what is understood about smart cities, playing particular attention on the governance, modelling and analysis of the transition that smart cities seek to represent. In paving the way for such a representation, the book begins to account for the social capital of smart communities and begins the task of modelling their embedded intelligence through an analysis of what the "embedded intelligence of smart cities" contributes to the sustainability of urban development. This innovative book offers an interdisciplinary perspective and shall be of interest to researchers, policy analysts and technical experts involved in and responsible for the planning, development and design of smart cities. It will also be of particular value to final year undergraduate and postgraduate students interested in Geography, Architecture and Planning.

The volume, complexity, and irregularity of computational data in modern algorithms and simulations necessitates an unorthodox approach to computing. Understanding the facets and possibilities of soft computing algorithms is necessary for the accurate and timely processing of complex data. Research Advances in the Integration of Big Data and Smart Computing builds on the available literature in the realm of Big Data while providing further research opportunities in this dynamic field. This publication provides the resources necessary for technology developers, scientists, and policymakers to adopt and implement new paradigms in computational methods across the globe. The chapters in this publication advance the body of knowledge on soft computing techniques through topics such as transmission control protocol for mobile ad hoc networks, feature extraction, comparative analysis of filtering techniques, big data in economic policy, and advanced dimensionality reduction methods.

Integrated Urban Environment Management And Resilience written by Luc Adolphe and has been published by John Wiley & Sons this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2022-10-11 with Technology & Engineering categories.

The city appears as an artefact, a more or less homogeneous technical ensemble, but also as a production of space, the privileged place where social relations in all historical forms take place. The city, which is crossed by all socialities and their contradictions, is directly influenced by them and is even their privileged vector. Introducing the technical developments that are expressed in a multidisciplinary approach into the lived social world facilitates the understanding of the city and the way in which it adapts to the difficulties it faces. We propose the morpho-sociological approach, which gives a representation of the state of the contemporary city and the conditions of its production; the geographical approach with the problems of development and the sharing of these areas; the economic approach with the modalities specific to a development model, making urban composition the answer to the problems of the sustainable city; and the sociological approach when it comes up against the effects of the now dominant digital world.
