Deceit can make a love story turn deadly. Leila learned from a very young age that marriage does not work for everyone. But for Leila and her high school sweetheart, Nicholas, they are confident they'll be together forever. After a dramatic break-up post high school, Leila and Nicholas experience lust-filled flings without one another. Leila experiences betrayal which has a devastating effect on the decision she makes next. The yearn and ache for one another is evident when Nicholas comes home from military training. Their passionate pull is too strong to deny. There is no one that knows Leila's body more than Nicholas. Life hits off at lightning speed and soon, they are doing all of the things Leila had always dreamed of: raising a family, owning a house, and trying to get the jobs they've always wanted. It almost feels normal. If someone would have asked her, she would have said that she didn't see it coming. But that is not entirely true. Leila notices the little things. The distance. The constant drum of mind-numbing television, and after one family vacation, she notices the scent of another woman on Nicholas's body. He denies it, and Leila tries to throw herself back into domestic life. But it seems that every corner she turns, there is another man who is trying to take advantage of her. Like so many women, Leila feels like she has to keep one eye open: even with her own husband. A TV obsession for Nicholas soon becomes much more. Soon, Nicholas is in a spending, lust-driven frenzy. His deception knows no bounds, and what was once a fairytale marriage soon turns into a nightmare. As Leila learns, not for the first time, lust can make you do crazy things. Things you never would have dreamed of. What happens when the person you are married to becomes the person you fear the most? In love and in death, Nicholas and Leila are about to discover the darkest parts of their love story.

Four young Black sisters come of age during the American Civil War in So Many Beginnings, a warm and powerful YA remix of the classic novel Little Women, by national bestselling author Bethany C. Morrow. North Carolina, 1863. As the American Civil War rages on, the Freedpeople's Colony of Roanoke Island is blossoming, a haven for the recently emancipated. Black people have begun building a community of their own, a refuge from the shadow of the "old life." It is where the March family has finally been able to safely put down roots with four young daughters: Meg, a teacher who longs to find love and start a family of her own. Jo, a writer whose words are too powerful to be contained. Beth, a talented seamstress searching for a higher purpose. Amy, a dancer eager to explore life outside her family's home. As the four March sisters come into their own as independent young women, they will face first love, health struggles, heartbreak, and new horizons. But they will face it all together. Praise for So Many Beginnings: A Little Women Remix "Morrow’s ability to take the lingering stain of slavery on American history and use it as a catalyst for unbreakable love and resilience is flawless. That she has remixed a canonical text to do so only further illuminates the need to critically question who holds the pen in telling our nation’s story." —Booklist, starred review "Bethany C. Morrow's prose is a sharpened blade in a practiced hand, cutting to the core of our nation's history. ... A devastatingly precise reimagining and a joyful celebration of sisterhood. A narrative about four young women who unreservedly deserve the world, and a balm for wounds to Black lives and liberty." —Tracy Deonn, New York Times-bestselling author of Legendborn "A tender and beautiful retelling that will make you fall in love with the foursome all over again." —Tiffany D. Jackson, New York Times-bestselling author of White Smoke and Grown

There is a very high probability that men and women may not smoothly get along based on the fact that they have a very different type of thought process. Then you start adding other factors and it can easily become a recipe for disaster. The way each of them handles their finances is a perfect example of how a disagreement can occur. We are different on many other levels including hormonal and emotional. Men are often problem solvers while women are often nurturers. These dynamics are small but they can make a big difference in many aspects of life. For example men often are expected to take on the role as a financial provider while women are often expecting to instinctually take on the caregiving roles of wives and mothers. Then you add on the outside pressures of society and your loving home can quickly turn into a battle ground of the sexes. It can even become even more complicated based on the various gender mixture and make up in the balance of every individual household. This can easily lead to a balance of power of one gender over the other making one more dominant over the other in the daily decision making aspects of their living conditions. Now that I have your attention I am ready to talk about this clash of the titans as men and women enter into the dating and relationship realm of their lives. The struggle for dominance naturally occurs in the process of self- preservation in the evolution of mankind as we continue into adult situations. I definitely enjoyed the direction that writing this literary work of art set me in. Enjoy the twists and various angles that this conversation takes. It definitely took a left turn into the realm of the reality of a very toxic real life relationship that we examine from the inside out and dissect it.

There Were Also Many Women There written by Katherine E. Harmon and has been published by Liturgical Press this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2013-01-01 with Religion categories.

Where are the women in liturgical history? In considering the influential liturgical movement in the United States during the first half of the twentieth century, Katharine E. Harmon reveals that the reality is analogous to Matthew's account of the crucifixion of Jesus: "there were also many women there" (Matt. 27:55). In this groundbreaking study, Harmon considers women's involvement in the movement. Here, readers explore the contributions of Maisie Ward, Dorothy Day, Catherine deHueck Doherty, Ade Bethune, Therese Mueller, and many others. Harmon shows how movements and institutions such as progressivism, Catholic women's organizations, Catholic Action, the American Grail Movement, and daily Catholic family life played a prominent role in the liturgical renewal. The historical record is clear that women were there, they ministered to the Mystical Body, and their important work must be recognized.
