A Rede Federal de Educação Profissional no Brasil, desde sua implantação, em 1909, vive um eterno reformismo. Muitas mudanças promoveram alterações em sua estrutura organizacional e em sua oferta de diferentes cursos e níveis de ensino. Com isso, muitos nomes foram dados às instituições dessa rede, como Escola Técnica Federal (ETF), Centro Federal de Educação Tecnológica (Cefet) e, atualmente, Institutos Federais de Educação, Ciência e Tecnologia. Os professores, diante das constantes mudanças, são impelidos a atuar em outros níveis, mesmo sem receber capacitação para isso. Essa ausência de formação para novas reorganizações curriculares e institucionais sempre produziu embates, os quais, por sua vez, revelam que desconstruir e reconstruir saberes docentes deve ser feito de maneira processual e sistematizada; não é "aprender a pilotar em pleno voo". A fim de contribuir com a formação de professores que atuam na educação profissional é que esta obra foi organizada. Mesmo que sejam apresentadas análises sobre ações docentes que se referem predominantemente à área de linguagens, é importante destacar que elas se realizam no coletivo de trabalho, em um processo de entrelaçamento de saberes docentes e científicos que dialogam com diferentes áreas. Essa compreensão interdisciplinar sobre o ensino está intrinsicamente relacionada com a concepção de formação integral de estudantes, alvo principal de uma instituição que visa à inserção de cidadãos para atuarem no mundo do trabalho. A presente obra traz também à tona fatos, textos e sentidos que podem auxiliar o(a) leitor(a) a compreender um pouco da história da instituição — que se atrela à história da educação profissional no país — e reconhecer que certos conflitos que estão diante dos docentes desse contexto podem parecer totalmente novos, mas na verdade não o são, pois somente seu invólucro é de inovação, mas sua essência não foi alterada. Assim, olhar para o passado, nesse caso, é evitar que os erros e as angústias já superados voltem à tona e se instalem novamente no coletivo de trabalho, sem a ressignificação efetiva das ações docentes entre todos os atores envolvidos na educação profissional.

This volume presents a project of empirical research on issues of theology, sexuality, and reproductive health and rights. It was carried out by researchers from two theological institutions in Brazil and Colombia in close contact with the grassroots in various civil-society organizations. Numerous studies at twenty-six Latin American institutions on the relation between theology and HIV/AIDS prepared the way for this project. It promotes and applies methodologies for Latin American popular education and participatory action research (PAR). While the project was finalized long before the COVID-19 pandemic hit Latin America and the world, the pandemic gave fresh evidence of the relevance of the project. The present volume is the English translation of the initial Portuguese and Spanish reports about the project, enriched with a new preface. The editors are delighted that this translation will help spread the vital insights from this research to a wider and global readership.

This book presents a collection of interrelated essays that analyze the theoretical foundations of semiotic-cultural constructivism in psychology written by one of the pioneers in this field of research: Dr. Lívia Mathias Simão, senior professor at the Institute of Psychology of the University of São Paulo, Brazil. In each of the five essays included in this book, the author establishes a dialogue with key thinkers and intellectual traditions of dialogical approaches arriving at core points of I-other relationships according to the perspective of semiotic-cultural constructivism in psychology.
