Soft computing is playing an increasing role in the study of complex systems in science and engineering. There is a large spectrum of successful applications of soft computing in very different applications domains such as aerospace, communication, consumer appliances, electric power systems, process engineering, transportation, and manufacturing automation and robotics. It has taken a while to bring the early ideas of soft computing to an area and a discipline that seems to be more than appropriate for that. Here it is! This book studies SOFT computing in SOFTware engineering environment. The book is HARD in terms of its results. It covers a range of core topics from software engineering that are soft from its very nature: selection of components, software design, software reuse, software cost estimation and software processes. Soft computing differs from conventional (hard) computing in its ability to be tolerant of imprecision, uncertainty, partial truth, and approximation. The guiding principle of soft computing is: Exploit the tolerance for imprecision, uncertainty, partial truth, and approximation to achieve tractability, robustness and low solution cost. The role model for soft computing is the human mind. This seems to be a natural fit with software engineering, a human-based development activity based on sound engineering principles. A recent survey by researchers reveals that "Software Engineering research tends to be quite self-contained, not relying on other disciplines for its thinking".

Soft Computing Techniques In Software Engineering written by Om Prakash Sangwan and has been published by LAP Lambert Academic Publishing this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2012 with categories.

Soft computing techniques have emerged as the most popular and widely used techniques in the field of Software Engineering as they offer the advantages of reduced cost, time, maintenance and increased productivity. In this book, few soft computing techniques (i.e. Fuzzy-Logic (FL), Neural Network (NN) and Neuro-Fuzzy (NF)) have been proposed to automate the software development process and are found to be suitable at the various phases of software development. The book is organized into nine chapters according to the phases of Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC). Effective utilization of soft computing techniques should result in increased productivity and quality, reduced cycle time, and lesser costs in the long run. Therefore, this book is useful to further explore various emerging soft computing technologies, including neural computing techniques such as Support Vector Machine (SVM), Adaptive Neuro-Fuzzy Inference System (ANFIS), hybrid soft computing models based on neural, fuzzy and evolutionary computation technologies.

Fuzzy Logic and Soft Computing contains contributions from world-leading experts from both the academic and industrial communities. The first part of the volume consists of invited papers by international authors describing possibilistic logic in decision analysis, fuzzy dynamic programming in optimization, linguistic modifiers for word computation, and theoretical treatments and applications of fuzzy reasoning. The second part is composed of eleven contributions from Chinese authors focusing on some of the key issues in the fields: stable adaptive fuzzy control systems, partial evaluations and fuzzy reasoning, fuzzy wavelet neural networks, analysis and applications of genetic algorithms, partial repeatability, rough set reduction for data enriching, limits of agents in process calculus, medium logic and its evolution, and factor spaces canes. These contributions are not only theoretically sound and well-formulated, but are also coupled with applicability implications and/or implementation treatments. The domains of applications realized or implied are: decision analysis, word computation, databases and knowledge discovery, power systems, control systems, and multi-destinational routing. Furthermore, the articles contain materials that are an outgrowth of recently conducted research, addressing fundamental and important issues of fuzzy logic and soft computing.

Principles of Soft Computing Using Python Programming An accessible guide to the revolutionary techniques of soft computing Soft computing is a computing approach designed to replicate the human mind’s unique capacity to integrate uncertainty and imprecision into its reasoning. It is uniquely suited to computing operations where rigid analytical models will fail to account for the variety and ambiguity of possible solutions. As machine learning and artificial intelligence become more and more prominent in the computing landscape, the potential for soft computing techniques to revolutionize computing has never been greater. Principles of Soft Computing Using Python Programming provides readers with the knowledge required to apply soft computing models and techniques to real computational problems. Beginning with a foundational discussion of soft or fuzzy computing and its differences from hard computing, it describes different models for soft computing and their many applications, both demonstrated and theoretical. The result is a set of tools with the potential to produce new solutions to the thorniest computing problems. Readers of Principles of Soft Computing Using Python Programming will also find: Each chapter accompanied with Python codes and step-by-step comments to illustrate applications Detailed discussion of topics including artificial neural networks, rough set theory, genetic algorithms, and more Exercises at the end of each chapter including both short- and long-answer questions to reinforce learning Principles of Soft Computing Using Python Programming is ideal for researchers and engineers in a variety of fields looking for new solutions to computing problems, as well as for advanced students in programming or the computer sciences.
