Microbes in Land Use Change Management details the various roles of microbial resources in management of land uses and how the microbes can be used for the source of income due to their cultivation for the purpose of biomass and bioenergy production. Using various techniques, the disturbed and marginal lands may also be restored eco-friendly in present era to fulfil the feeding needs of mankind around the globe. Microbes in Land Use Change Management provides standard and up to date information towards the land use change management using various microbial technologies to enhance the productivity of agriculture. Needless to say that Microbes in Land Use Change Management also considers the areas including generation of alternative energy sources, restoration of degraded and marginal lands, mitigation of global warming gases and next generation -omics technique etc. Land use change affects environment conditions and soil microbial community. Microbial population and its species diversity have influence in maintaining ecosystem balance. The study of changes of microbial population provides an idea about the variation occurring in a specific area and possibilities of restoration. Meant for a multidisciplinary audience Microbes in Land Use Change Management shows the need of next-generation omics technologies to explore microbial diversity. - Describes the role of microbes in generation of alternative source of energy - Gives recent information related to various microbial technology and their diversified applications - Provides thorough insight in the problems related to landscape dynamics, restoration of soil, reclamation of lands mitigation of global warming gases etc. eco-friendly way using versatility of microbes - Includes microbial tools and technology in reclamation of degraded, disturbed and marginal lands, mitigation of global warming gases

Microorganisms are widely presented in various environments such as soil, water, air, inside or on the surface of multi-cellular organisms, and food. There are various complicated microbial interactions, including symbiosis, mutualism, competition, antagonism, and predation, among the different microorganisms that coexist in the same environment forming a community. These complex microbial interactions can affect various cellular behaviors such as microbial growth, metabolism, performance, and social behavior. Social behavior refers to the evolving specialization and cooperation that takes place between group members to jointly survive and understanding this cooperation evolution is still a challenge for biology and social science. According to the impact experienced by the implementer and receiver, social behavior can be roughly divided into four categories: mutually beneficial, selfish, altruistic, and malicious. Cooperation increases the adaptability of the recipient and can be mutually beneficial or just altruistic. Cooperation has been widely studied from insects to humans but its impact on microbial populations has only been described recently. Social behavior models based on dynamics and evolutionary behavior, such as the snowdrift and prisoner's dilemma models, have been described in microorganisms. Moreover, microbial cooperation is also influenced by the environmental factors in which they are located. Studying the role of environmental factors on microbial cooperation from the perspective of environment-microorganism interaction is of great importance for clarifying mechanisms underlying microbial cooperation and its roles.

Vaccines A Biography written by Andrew W. Artenstein and has been published by Springer Science & Business Media this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2009-12-11 with Science categories.

Why another book about vaccines? There are already a few extremely well-written medical textbooks that provide comprehensive, state-of-the-art technical reviews regarding vaccine science. Additionally, in the past decade alone, a number of engrossing, provocative books have been published on various related issues ra- ing from vaccines against specific diseases to vaccine safety and policy. Yet there remains a significant gap in the literature – the history of vaccines. Vaccines: A Biography seeks to fill a void in the extant literature by focusing on the history of vaccines and in so doing, recounts the social, cultural, and scientific history of vaccines; it places them within their natural, historical context. The book traces the lineage – the “biography” – of individual vaccines, originating with deeply rooted medical problems and evolving to an eventual conclusion. Nonetheless, these are not “biographies” in the traditional sense; they do not trace an individual’s growth and development. Instead, they follow an idea as it is conceived and dev- oped, through the contributions of many. These are epic stories of discovery, of risk-takers, of individuals advancing medical science, in the words of the famous physical scientist Isaac Newton, “by standing on the shoulders of giants. ” One grant reviewer described the book’s concept as “triumphalist”; although meant as an indictment, this is only partially inaccurate.
