After the death of two dear military friends, I decided that their stories and mine needed to be told, as these stories disappear when we depart the earth. All these stories have one thing in common, the story tellers made it through their experiences and lived to tell their tales! These are stories by Soldiers, Sailors, Marines, Air-force and Coast Guard with some foreign stories. We tell these stories to ease painful memories and to try to explain their experiences to friends and family. These stories are from the American Civil War to current conflicts and range from, humorous, to unbelievable and many are told over many years and many tears We also tell these stories to other veterans as they DO understand as they have been there too!

Diaries of a Soldier is the trilogy of a child who grew up to be a soldier only to suffer the horrors of life itself. From birth, through the treacherous journey of his life this soldier took, until his career suicide. Share his laughter, pain, anger, trials, and tribulations as this career soldier pours his heart out for the freedom of others; sacrificing his very soul to give to his country and never asking for anything in return, but should he have saved a little for himself. Run through the gauntlet of fears as you read about the demons that now haunt him to this day and why. Bucket Head is only the beginning of this soldier's problems as he does everything to survive the nights filled with terror, subsequently changing his inner being each time he awakes. Cannibal Boy will leave you numb as you read how this soldier used his own mistakes to follow a way out, yet is still struggling with the demons of Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder. Read how this one soldier, who gave his very soul to everyone around him, is now rejected by those around him and the total devastation of a broken heart for life. Try to figure out why this proud and highly decorated soldier, turned away from his medals and all that he had learned in the military in an attempt to find himself what little peace there is left in his life. This based on a true story, as told by the soldier himself.

Veteran journalist Ron Steinman gathers candid reminiscences from seventy-six men (including Senator John McCain) who lived through the brutalities of combat in the Vietnam War. A Soldiers' Story provides a vivid and gripping oral history of the fear, fellowship, trauma and triumph of these Marine, Army, Air Force, and Navy veterans. Complete with maps and battlefield photographs, these indespensable first-hand accounts provide a unique front-line record of Vietnam - from its surreal horrors, to the comradeship and courage forged in battle. From the jungles of Southeast Asia to life back in the United States as veterans of an unpopular war, A Soldiers' Story also includes complete and updated biographies of the brave men who are profiled. This is a book that goes beyond the military and political implications of Vietnam, to the truth of what the war cost - and who actually paid the price.

Jerry Thigpen's study on the history of the Combat Talon is the first effort to tell the story of this wonderfully capable machine. This weapons system has performed virtually every imaginable tactical event in the spectrum of conflict and by any measure is the most versatile C-130 derivative ever produced. First modified and sent to Southeast Asia (SEA) in 1966 to replace theater unconventional warfare (UW) assets that were limited in both lift capability and speed the Talon I quickly adapted to theater UW tasking including infiltration and resupply and psychological warfare operations into North Vietnam. After spending four years in SEA and maturing into a highly respected UW weapons system the Joint Chief of Staff (JCS) chose the Combat Talon to lead the night low-level raid on the North Vietnamese prison camp at Son Tay. Despite the outcome of the operation the Talon I cemented its reputation as the weapons system of choice for long-range clandestine operations. In the period following the Vietnam War United States Air Force (USAF) special operations gradually lost its political and financial support which was graphically demonstrated in the failed Desert One mission into Iran. Thanks to congressional supporters like Earl Hutto of Florida and Dan Daniel of Virginia funds for aircraft upgrades and military construction projects materialized to meet the ever-increasing threat to our nation. Under the leadership of such committed hard-driven officers as Brenci Uttaro Ferkes Meller and Thigpen the crew force became the most disciplined in our Air Force. It was capable of penetrating hostile airspace at night in a low-level mountainous environment covertly to execute any number of unconventional warfare missions.

Don’t miss the exclusive content in this thrilling adaptation of Solo: A Star Wars Story, with scenes from alternate versions of the script including Han Solo’s time in the Imperial Navy, Qi’ra’s past, the beginnings of the rebellion, and more! Though Han Solo has thrilled Star Wars fans for decades, the notorious wisecracking scoundrel was chasing adventure and dodging trouble long before he walked into the cantina at Mos Eisley spaceport. Young Han dreams of someday soaring into space at the helm of his own starship and leaving his home, the gritty industrial planet Corellia, far behind. But as long as he’s trapped in a life of poverty and crime—and under the thumb of the sinister Lady Proxima and her brutal street gang—reaching the distant stars seems impossible. When Han tries to escape with his girlfriend and partner-in-crime, Qi’ra, he makes it out—but she doesn’t. Desperate for a way to find his own offworld vessel and free her, Han enlists in the Imperial Navy—the last place for a rebellious loner who doesn’t play well with others. When the Empire clips his wings, Han goes rogue and plunges into the shady world of smugglers, gamblers, and con artists. There he meets the charming and cunning high roller Lando Calrissian, makes an unlikely friend in a cantankerous Wookiee called Chewbacca, and first lays eyes on the Millennium Falcon. To snag his piece of the outlaw pie, Han joins a crew of pirates to pull off a risky heist. The stakes are high, the danger is great, and the odds are slim. But never tell Han Solo the odds. Praise for Solo: A Star Wars Story “Mur Lafferty has given us the best adaptation of a Star Wars film yet.”—Star Wars News Net “If you liked the movie but were left wanting more, this novel has exactly what you need.”—CNET “A fun adventure tale within the larger Star Wars franchise that goes beyond the run-of-the-mill novelization treatment to explore a new bit of the world that we haven’t yet seen.”—The Verge
