Probabilities Of Counting Codes written by Peter Müller and has been published by BoD – Books on Demand this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2011 with Mathematics categories.

In many cases counters are used to count special events within an endless sequence of events. This paper discusses a specific calculation, related to the probability of a counter overrun if the special event occurs not in a predictable way but with a certain probability. Different counter codes are compared with each other. A probability formula is developed for special scenarios which are normally analyzed by state diagrams and which can be numerically solved by the related Markov chains. The target is to enable a non-numerical discussion of the topic. It is shown how formulas can be found based on the rules of the probability theory, and their correctness is verified by a comparison with Markov chains.

This book is written for people who love MATLAB and Fibonacci numbers. One of the objectives of writing this book is to introduce MATLAB and Fibonacci numbers to students in high schools. The material presented is very easy and simple to understand -- written in a very simplified manner. The book is divided into two parts - A review of MATLAB is presented in the first part. This is followed by a presentation of Fibonacci numbers and the Golden Ratio in the second part. The topics covered in the book include symbolic computing with MATLAB, solving equations with MATLAB, MATLAB functions, graphs in MATLAB, Fibonacci numbers, The Golden Ratio, Properties of the Golden Ratio, Lucas numbers, Generalizations of Fibonacci numbers, and Random Fibonacci numbers. The book includes numerous M-files written specifically to compute different kinds of Fibonacci sequences and the Golden Ratio. The author has been using MATLAB for the past seventeen years and is the author of the best selling books "MATLAB for Beginners" and "MATLAB Guide to Finite Elements".

This book contains 58 papers from among the 68 papers presented at the Fifth International Conference on Fibonacci Numbers and Their Applications which was held at the University of St. Andrews, St. Andrews, Fife, Scotland from July 20 to July 24, 1992. These papers have been selected after a careful review by well known referees in the field, and they range from elementary number theory to probability and statistics. The Fibonacci numbers and recurrence relations are their unifying bond. It is anticipated that this book, like its four predecessors, will be useful to research workers and graduate students interested in the Fibonacci numbers and their applications. In this new text, designed for sophomores studying mathematics and computer science, the authors cover the basics of difference equations and some of their applications in computing and in population biology. Each chapter leads to techniques that can be applied by hand to small examples or programmed for larger problems. Along the way, the reader will use linear algebra and graph theory, develop formal power series, solve combinatorial problems, visit Perron—Frobenius theory, discuss pseudorandom number generation and integer factorization, and apply the Fast Fourier Transform to multiply polynomials quickly. The book contains many worked examples and over 250 exercises. While these exercises are accessible to students and have been class-tested, they also suggest further problems and possible research topics.
