Sound Scattering On Spherical Objects written by Tom Rother and has been published by this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2020 with Sound-waves categories.

This book introduces readers to scattering from a practical/numerical point of view. The focus is on basic aspects like single scattering, multiple scattering, and whether inhomogeneous boundary conditions or inhomogeneous scatterers have to be taken into account. The powerful T-matrix approach is explained in detail and used throughout the book, and iterative solution methods are discussed. In addition, the book addresses appropriate criteria for estimating the accuracy of numerical results, as well as their importance for practical applications. Python code is provided with each chapter, and can be freely used and modified by readers. Moreover, numerous scattering results for different configurations are provided for benchmarking purposes. The book will be particularly valuable for those readers who plan to develop their own scattering code, and wish to test the correct numerical implementation of the underlying mathematics.

High Frequency And Pulse Scattering written by Allan D. Pierce and has been published by Academic Press this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2013-10-22 with Science categories.

High Frequency and Pulse Scattering investigates high frequency and pulse scattering, with emphasis on the phenomenon of echoes from objects. Geometrical and catastrophe optics methods in scattering are discussed, along with the scattering of sound pulses and the ringing of target resonances. Caustics and associated diffraction catastrophes are also examined. Comprised of two chapters, this volume begins with a detailed account of geometrically based approximation methods in scattering theory, focusing on waves transmitted through fluid and elastic scatterers and glory scattering; surface ray representations of scattering by shells and other smooth objects; and caustics and associated diffraction catastrophes. The second chapter deals with the relation between sound pulses and the vibrational spectra of elastic submerged objects. The theory of the scattering of sound pulses from elastic and impenetrable objects is described, together with the theory of surface wave pulses. Target resonances and the singularity expansion method are also analyzed. This book will be of interest to physicists.

Resonance Acoustic Spectroscopy written by Naum D. Veksler and has been published by Springer Science & Business Media this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2012-12-06 with Science categories.

Resonance Acoustic Spectroscopy deals with the analysis of waves generated in an elastic body by a plane harmonic acoustic wave. It is the first monograph to treat new analytical and experimental methods for the investigation of the excitation, propagation and re-radiation of elastic waves in solid, thick-walled and thin-walled elastic scatterers. The material is presented systematically, comprising the formulation of the problem, method of solution, algorithm, computation and analysis. A large number of computational results are given in the form of modal resonances, form functions, dispersion curves and acoustic spectrograms. Particular attention is paid to the interpretation of the solutions.

This book is the first of 2 special volumes dedicated to the memory of Gérard Maugin. Including 40 papers that reflect his vast field of scientific activity, the contributions discuss non-standard methods (generalized model) to demonstrate the wide range of subjects that were covered by this exceptional scientific leader. The topics range from micromechanical basics to engineering applications, focusing on new models and applications of well-known models to new problems. They include micro–macro aspects, computational endeavors, options for identifying constitutive equations, and old problems with incorrect or non-satisfying solutions based on the classical continua assumptions.

These 13 papers were part of a May 1989 symposium at the Catholic University of America, Washington, D.C., the home of much of the early theoretical and experimental work in acoustic resonance scattering. Topics include a historical survey of the development of the subject, a description of the MIIR and short- pulse methods, and new developments such as the derivation of exact acoustic background shells, application of the method of moments, and S-matrix product expansions. Understanding and constructively using natural sound in the ocean has become of prime importance with the shift of emphasis to protecting the environment and exercising responsible global resource management which has followed the end of the Cold War. Especially now that we realise that marine mammals and other inhabitants of the oceans are threatened by our acoustic pollution of their environment, the use of natural sound as a non-intrusive remote sensing probe has become particularly germane. This was the first meeting on the subject since the fall of Soviet-Western barriers, and the proceedings include significant work from premier researchers in the former Soviet Union. It was also the first meeting which specifically addressed the new and exciting idea of using natural sound in applications for monitoring the marine environment. The proceedings include a number of papers on various aspects of this topic. Further new work on the basic physics of sound production and propagation is also included. This volume includes leading-edge work from the foremost researchers in the field, including Bill Carey, Lawrence Crum, Nikolai Dubrovskii, David Farmer, Brian Kerman, Bill Kuperman, Michael Longuet-Higgins, Hank Medwin, Ken Melville, A Prosperetti and many others.
