The Sound Of Fear follows a pathway of the unthinkable. Is life as we know it truly a myth of hopeful expectation? The book, spread over a decade of time, entrances you with the love of a couple and their love of family, entwines you around the mysteries of the subconscious mind, enthralls you with depths of fear ignited by often heart-rendering episodes and embraces your simple need for pulling the bed covers over your eyes! Weak, strong, dirty, and heroic characters help you relate to human frailties. Inconceivable terror strikes you at times to find your core’s fear triggers. Take a deep breath as necessary! The simple fact is fear manifests deeply in all humans. Some hide the emotion with intrinsic capabilities of denial. Others blink and run on impulse! The storyline drifts around an alien tone. Subtle at times, you feel compelled to understand any life-form’s survival needs. But, the brutality of reality puts you back on the “home Team”, routing for the survival of the fittest! The Sound Of Fear experience finds you reminiscing those times when you looked into the wind-blown bushes at dusk to see the imaginary shadows or when you thought twice about going into the dark open waters of that expansive pond, lake or ocean. The book’s simple text finds you remembering the possibilities of how and why people cold be placed in situations just like one’s you’d heard about or had experienced. Within the chapters, you will relate to the characters’ sometimes reckless, sometimes concise, sometimes giddy, sometimes compassionate decisions or emotions. The book is purposefully designed to make you feel like you know what’s going to happen next…it at least gives you that “feeling” of control…or does it? Let your fear be your guide!

A young woman pursues a curious resonance that may be a key to her mysterious lineage in "Echoes." A man locked in the trunk of a car must puzzle out his location to solve the motive behind his own kidnapping in "Love's Hard Edge." In "Perros Fieles," two Cuban agents use an infrasonic weapon to neutralize their opponents. In the chilling "0:01," A composer discovers a recent recording from someone he knows to be dead. A team of explorers descend to the ocean floor to investigate an impossibly loud, inscrutable sound known only as The Bloop in "Loki's Daughter."The Sound of Fear is a themed collection of speculative horror stories with sci-fi, fantasy and noir elements by one of the most talented new writers of dark fiction. It plunges the reader into twelve lean, mean page-turners with twist endings that pit the living against the soundscapes of the beyond, including four previously unpublished stories ("Kingdom by the Sea," "0:01," "Farewell Concert," and "Love's Hard Edge").

Characters and plot developments, similarly, are enhanced by their musical accompaniment. The different scoring strategies employed in supernatural and horror-based genres, comprising for example True Blood and Supernatural, are considered alongside cult shows set in our reality, such as Dexter, The Sopranos and 24. These discussions are complimented by in-depth case studies of musical approaches in two high-profile series: Buffy the Vampire Slayer and Hannibal. Written from a musicological standpoint but fully accessible to non-musicologists, the book significantly advances television and music studies.

A knocking. A ringing. A steady drip-drip-drip. These are the sounds that haunt us. Drive us mad. Draw us in like the songs of sirens, hypnotic and deadly. And we must either give in, or resist with everything we have...and hope it's enough. Listen: The Sound of Fear offers ten stories written exclusively by trans and nonbinary authors that explore the chilling, perplexing, terrifying nature of sound. Kill Your Darlings. When two shop workers in 1894 New York discover a haunted phonograph, they must race to solve the mystery of its tragic past before it's too late to save their budding romance--and their lives. Exhibition. A performance artist inspired by the inhumane treatment of refugees finds her gallery transformed into an equally inhospitable environment. Trapped inside the confines of her Plexiglas box, she struggles to piece together what is happening--and how to keep herself alive. On the Other Side of Sound. A ringing in the ears; a coded message from beyond explanation. It will only ruin your life if you let it. Her Little Joke. When Mave Kitten is asked to investigate a creepy phenomenon, little does she know to what depths the trail will lead: Ghosts, a haunted well, ignorance, a flapping bird. What of the woman in green? M/other. I am alone. I do not know exactly how long I have been alone. My husband and child are...gone. Aren't they? As a storm rages outside my decaying house, I begin to hear and see things that cannot possibly be there. Or can they? Holy Water. Adolescence can be hell. Adolescence in an all-girl's Catholic school as a trans teen surrounded by mean girls is a special kind of hell--especially when your school is haunted. Snipper-Snapper. Cats make the best pets--loving, thoughtful, and loyal. Amour even brings home his own takeaway meals. Except for the stains, and damage to the shag pile, Mummy couldn't be happier. Everyone needs a playmate. The Knocking Bird. Knock three times to keep yourself safe. Follow your love across the sea. Obsession threads through nearly every aspect of Steffi's life. But what happens when it drives her to do the unthinkable? Bride of Brine. Sylvie hasn't heard the song of the siren in years. But when she's called home to help her estranged father find her brother, she's faced with an impossible choice: save him, or save herself. Haunt. When Kevin inherits his family home and decides to fix it up with his partner, he quickly discovers that the past can haunt you in more than one way--and he must choose, once and for all, exactly who he is.

Sonic Warfare written by Steve Goodman and has been published by MIT Press this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2012-08-17 with Music categories.

An exploration of the production, transmission, and mutation of affective tonality—when sound helps produce a bad vibe. Sound can be deployed to produce discomfort, express a threat, or create an ambience of fear or dread—to produce a bad vibe. Sonic weapons of this sort include the “psychoacoustic correction” aimed at Panama strongman Manuel Noriega by the U.S. Army and at the Branch Davidians in Waco by the FBI, sonic booms (or “sound bombs”) over the Gaza Strip, and high-frequency rat repellants used against teenagers in malls. At the same time, artists and musicians generate intense frequencies in the search for new aesthetic experiences and new ways of mobilizing bodies in rhythm. In Sonic Warfare, Steve Goodman explores these uses of acoustic force and how they affect populations. Traversing philosophy, science, fiction, aesthetics, and popular culture, he maps a (dis)continuum of vibrational force, encompassing police and military research into acoustic means of crowd control, the corporate deployment of sonic branding, and the intense sonic encounters of sound art and music culture. Goodman concludes with speculations on the not yet heard—the concept of unsound, which relates to both the peripheries of auditory perception and the unactualized nexus of rhythms and frequencies within audible bandwidths.

Dawn Crystal is a pioneer of sound-energy therapy. She makes fear- and anxiety-relieving sounds with her voice, a gift she discovered as an adult. She has done this for over 20 years, for individuals and groups. Imagine your world free of fear and anxiety. Imagine if sources of fear and anxiety could be relieved immediately. Imagine being fear-free fast and easy. This is one of Dawn's missions. She tunes into people and sees from their energy the locations of the causes of fear and anxiety. Her goal is to stop fear by bringing people back to their center, joining body, mind, and spirit. This is alternative help, working with "life force energy," what the Chinese and acupuncturists call "chi." FEAR FREE includes examples of Dawn's techniques as applied to sufferers of fear and anxiety, and presents useful reference to the relevant scientific literature. You should read this book if you suffer from fear or anxiety or you know someone who does, and you or they have tried many different techniques, without success, to get remission.
