The long stories; the second anthology of stories by George Roland Wills. _____ The Whitechapel Changeling_____ The Train Ride_____ The Division Bell_____ Swamp Witch_____ Just South of Margaritaville, a poem These are the long stories of George Roland Wills. ____ In this book, we again meet Sherlock Holmes. This time, Watson is explaining Sherlock Holmes' involvement in the actual Scotland Yard account of the Jack the Ripper murders in The Whitechapel Changeling. ____ In this account, Holmes actually has a possible motive for an act of patricide at the Reichenbach Falls; Moriarty's criminal involvement with Jack the Ripper. ____ The Train Ride explores a charming little story about a young girl who is on a train riding out West about 1890. She is to meet her grandfather for the very first time. The young girl on the train, Bethany Louisa (pronounced Lou-wise-a) Sossity, is actually the grand daughter of the man who owns not only this train, but every train in North America. A young girl I met out West named Bethany is the inspiration for the story. _____ The Division Bell is a rather bizarre story about an alternative history of the Civil War involving time travel, and what it would be like to affect such a change in history. _____ In Swamp Witch, we again meet Black Water Hattie, only this time, back when she actually lived in the era of the Civil War. It is during Reconstruction that we find her living as a widow deep in the swamps of Florida in the tale, Swamp Witch. This is the actual story to which we alluded in the first anthology. ____ A stand-alone version of this story will also be released, with both the story from The November Country and this one in South of Margaritaville, combined into one tale. ____ The stand-alone story will be titled Swamp Witch; The Legend of Black Water Hattie. ____ A 2020 poem about living just South of Margaritaville_____ This anthology, South of Margaritaville, is the second collection of stories by George Roland Wills.

Imagine a common movie scene: a hero confronts a villain. Captioning such a moment would at first glance seem as basic as transcribing the dialogue. But consider the choices involved: How do you convey the sarcasm in a comeback? Do you include a henchman’s muttering in the background? Does the villain emit a scream, a grunt, or a howl as he goes down? And how do you note a gunshot without spoiling the scene? These are the choices closed captioners face every day. Captioners must decide whether and how to describe background noises, accents, laughter, musical cues, and even silences. When captioners describe a sound—or choose to ignore it—they are applying their own subjective interpretations to otherwise objective noises, creating meaning that does not necessarily exist in the soundtrack or the script. Reading Sounds looks at closed-captioning as a potent source of meaning in rhetorical analysis. Through nine engrossing chapters, Sean Zdenek demonstrates how the choices captioners make affect the way deaf and hard of hearing viewers experience media. He draws on hundreds of real-life examples, as well as interviews with both professional captioners and regular viewers of closed captioning. Zdenek’s analysis is an engrossing look at how we make the audible visible, one that proves that better standards for closed captioning create a better entertainment experience for all viewers.

God And Popular Culture written by Stephen Butler Murray and has been published by Bloomsbury Publishing USA this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2015-08-11 with Religion categories.

This contributed two-volume work tackles a fascinating topic: how and why God plays a central role in the modern world and profoundly influences politics, art, culture, and our moral reflection—even for nonbelievers. God—in the many ways that people around the globe conceptualize Him, Her, or It—is one of the most powerful, divisive, unifying, and creative elements of human culture. The two volumes of God and Popular Culture: A Behind-the-Scenes Look at the Entertainment Industry's Most Influential Figure provide readers with a balanced and accessible analysis of this fascinating topic that allows anyone who appreciates any art, music, television, film, and other forms of entertainment to have a new perspective on a favorite song or movie. Written by a collective of both believers and nonbelievers, the essays enable both nonreligious individuals and those who are spiritually guided to consider how culture approaches and has appropriated God to reveal truths about humanity and society. The book discusses the intersections of God with film, television, sports, politics, commerce, and popular culture, thereby documenting how the ongoing messages and conversations about God that occur among the general population also occur within the context of the entertainment that we as members of society consume—often without our recognition of the discussion.

Skinner's world is shaken to the core... Still reeling from the tragic death of their much-loved colleague, Skinner's men are about to discover that a disturbed serial killer is still at large and very close to home. Perfect for fans of Ian Rankin and James Oswald. It's the second week of July Trades Holiday in Edinburgh when Deputy Chief Constable Bob Skinner and his men get a call informing them that the body of a young woman has been found on a golf course. It's been there for ten days so she's not a pretty sight. But the way she has been laid out is uncannily familiar. The body has been 'composed', just like the bodies of three other young women in a previous case. Could it be the work of a copycat killer? The murder victim is an art teacher who was having a relationship with the son of a Tory MP. Her ex-boyfriend is a policeman with a reputation as a serious womaniser. It seems the murder trail is getting much too close for comfort... What readers are saying about Aftershock: 'In many ways Quintin Jardine is the Scottish answer to John Grisham... whilst reading one is gripped and cannot resist turning the page' 'The twists in the book always keep you guessing. Fantastic writing as always' 'Top notch stuff and well worth seeking out if you love a gripping thriller with plenty of twists and turns'

Often considered to be in opposition, American popular culture and popular religion are connected, forming and informing new ways of thinking, writing and practicing religion and theology. Film, television, music, sports and video games are integral to understanding the spiritual, the secular and the in-between in the modern world. In its revised second edition, this book explores how religious issues of canonicity, scriptural authority, morality, belief and unbelief are worked out not in churches, seminaries or university classrooms, but in our popular culture. Topics new to this edition include lived religion, digital technology, new trends in belief and identification, the film Noah (2014), the television series True Blood, Kanye West's music, the video game Fallout and media events of recent years.
