Studienarbeit aus dem Jahr 2023 im Fachbereich Pädagogik - Pädagogische Soziologie, Note: 1,7, Pädagogische Hochschule Freiburg im Breisgau, Sprache: Deutsch, Abstract: In der vorliegenden Hausarbeit wird der Forschungsfrage nachgegangen, inwiefern sich am Übergang von der Grundschule in die weiterführende Schule soziale Bildungsungleichheiten aufgrund eines Migrationshintergrundes manifestieren. Im Mittelpunkt dieser Arbeit steht der Übergang von der Primar- in die Sekundarstufe von Schüler:innen mit Migrationshintergrund. Zunächst werden Begriffe der sozialen Ungleichheit definiert und zwei einflussreiche Theorien zur Erklärung von Bildungsungleichheiten vorgestellt. Anschließend werden die rechtlichen Grundlagen des Übergangsprozesses von der Grundschule in die weiterführende Schule geklärt und aktuelle Übergangsquoten zum Übertritt in die Sekundarstufe kurz dargestellt. Daran anknüpfend werden empirische Befunde zum aktuellen Forschungsstand präsentiert. Dabei geht es zunächst um die soziale Ungleichheit von Bildungschancen beim Übergang im Allgemeinen, darauffolgend um die Bildungsungleichheit von Schüler:innen mit Migrationshintergrund. In der ab-schließenden Diskussion werden die Ergebnisse zusammengeführt und diskutiert, die Fragestellung der Arbeit beantwortet und ein Ausblick gegeben.

Educational sociologists have paid relatively little attention to children in middle childhood (ages 6 to 12), whereas developmental psychologists have emphasized factors internal to the child much more than the social contexts in explaining children's development. Children, Schools, and Inequality redresses that imbalance. It examines elementary school outcomes (e.g., test scores, grades, retention rates) in light of the socioeconomic variation in schools and neighborhoods, the organizational patterns across elementary schools, and the ways in which family structure intersects with children's school performance. Adding data from the Baltimore Beginning School Study to information culled from the fields of sociology, child development, and education, this book suggests why the gap between the school achievement of poor children and those who are better off has been so difficult to close. Doris Enwistle, Karl Alexander, and Linda Olson show why the first-grade transition?how children negotiate entry into full-time schooling?is a crucial period. They also show that events over that time have repercussions that echo throughout children's entire school careers. This book explores the factors which govern the range of educational decisions confronting individuals between compulsory school education and university. The data on which it draws come from two surveys conducted in north-west Italy, one of unemployed young people and one of high-school pupils. The author is in effect testing the two fundamental and opposed paradigms of explanation which are generally applied in the sociology of education; one which holds that the individual agents are essentially passive, being either constrained by lack of alternatives or pushed by causal factors of which they are unaware; and the other in which they are regarded as capable of purposive action, of weighing the available alternatives with respect to some future rewards.
