Spacematrix explores the potential of urban density as a tool for urban planning and design. This revised and extended edition of Meta Berghauser Pont and Per Haupt’s 2010 volume includes an extensive analysis of the relations between density, urban form and performance – a prerequisite for understanding and successfully predicting the effects of specific designs and planning proposals. The density database that is an integral part of the book has been expanded and now includes 142 examples from five capitals in Europe as well as examples from Asia. Berghauser Pont and Haupt demystify the use of concepts such as ‘urbanity’, ‘compact city’ and ‘park city’ by challenging the reliability of such concepts and critically examining the possibility of redefining them through quantification using multiple density measures. Spacematrix is of interest to professionals working in the field of urbanism, such as architects, urban planners and designers, as well as developers, economists, engineers and policymakers. It also offers researchers a method to quantitatively describe urban form and connect this to a wide range of performances.

Form Syntax For Quantitative Urban Morphology And Urban Design Analyses written by Yu Ye and has been published by Springer Nature this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2025-01-31 with Science categories.
This book sets out to develop a quantitative-based analysis, Form Syntax, which is able to identify various prototypes of urban forms and their degrees of urbanity, thereby enhancing urban design practices. Form Syntax is a combination of emerging quantitative analysis tools with qualitative urban morphology tradition. It integrates a set of spatial analysis tools including Space Syntax, Spacematrix, and Mixed-use index (MXI) through GIS to measure the morphological features of streets, buildings and blocks, and functions. Furthermore, the Form Syntax assists in comprehending the intrinsic, evolving logic of urban form. Based on the findings of urban morphology, the Urban Form Index could function as an analytical instrument in numerous phases of the urban design process, thereby promoting urban vitality. Moreover, morphology-led understandings of urban design theory can inform urban design practices. This study endeavors to introduce quantitative thinking into urban morphology and urban design, with the objective of developing a lively built environment and pursuing more vibrant place-making.

The book promotes the use of formal methods in the creation of new explicit languages for problem solving in architecture and urbanism. Formal methods bring advantages to human actions and involve the use of theoretically driven techniques, expressed in languages stemmed from mathematics. Formalization seeks to guarantee that solutions for daily problems are produced in a manner that ensures their greatest possible adequacy and the least test time in direct confrontation with reality. This book contributes to the progress of formalization in architectural methodologies by finding points of convergence between state of the art research on ontologies in architecture, BIM/VDC, CAD/CAM, cellular automata, GIS, parametric processes, processing and space syntax presented within the 3rd Symposium of Formal Methods in Architecture. The contents reach from millennial geometry to current shape grammars, engaging several formal approaches to architecture and urbanism, with different points of view, fields of application, grades of abstraction and formalization.

This book will bring fundamental change in our understanding of phenomenon of gravitation, after Newton and Einstein, by taking it to quantum level as QUANTUM GRAVITATION. So far scientists have been using only four dimensions to describe universe, out of which three dimensions of Space describe WHAT, fourth dimension of Time describes WHEN and for the first time author has included Energy as fifth dimension which explains HOW UNIVERSE WORKS. In this simple book we will Study basic of all basics, to examine ‘the world around us’; which will change our picture of universe for ever. Here the author explains in a different perceptive both to common man and serious scholars of Science; what is space, time, unit photon, unit electron, magnetism, unit mass, graviton, unit charge, unit black hole, all universal constants, method of construction of elements, formation of gravitational coloumns, rule of positioning and motion of planets etc. The alphabets of His script (Planck’s units) were found way back in 1900 by Mr. Max Planck but His Script is now deciphered in this treo model. The Four basic forces are described as ‘Load dependent deformation of space matrix in increasing number of all four dimensions of space time’; and this unify all forces.

Medical Imaging Technology written by Mark A Haidekker and has been published by Springer Science & Business Media this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2013-04-17 with Science categories.
Biomedical imaging is a relatively young discipline that started with Conrad Wilhelm Roentgen’s discovery of the x-ray in 1895. X-ray imaging was rapidly adopted in hospitals around the world. However, it was the advent of computerized data and image processing that made revolutionary new imaging modalities possible. Today, cross-sections and three-dimensional reconstructions of the organs inside the human body is possible with unprecedented speed, detail and quality. This book provides an introduction into the principles of image formation of key medical imaging modalities: X-ray projection imaging, x-ray computed tomography, magnetic resonance imaging, ultrasound imaging, and radionuclide imaging. Recent developments in optical imaging are also covered. For each imaging modality, the introduction into the physical principles and sources of contrast is provided, followed by the methods of image formation, engineering aspects of the imaging devices, and a discussion of strengths and limitations of the modality. With this book, the reader gains a broad foundation of understanding and knowledge how today’s medical imaging devices operate. In addition, the chapters in this book can serve as an entry point for the in-depth study of individual modalities by providing the essential basics of each modality in a comprehensive and easy-to-understand manner. As such, this book is equally attractive as a textbook for undergraduate or graduate biomedical imaging classes and as a reference and self-study guide for more specialized in-depth studies.
