Please come home for Christmas... Tanya Bennett is still feeling the effects of her mental breakdown from last year after her parents died. She lost a lot of loved ones in a short period of time, but most notably her son, who she can't see without supervision. With some help from her friends, she's back on the right track with a new job and volunteering with the school play her son's in. But a bad reputation is hard to overcome and whether she can spend Christmas with her son hinges on how well her upcoming court date goes. If not for Christmas, by New Year's night... Adam Allen is still trying to figure out how to co-parent with his controlling ex, who is always quick to criticize his parenting. It doesn't help that he's so forgetful and he works a lot, but at least he's trying. It's hard for him to find someone who can relate, until he meets Tanya. Adam feels an instant connection with her, but her episode the year before has ripple effects that could alter both of their relationships with their kids.

It’s late on Christmas Eve, and the little fir tree is the only tree left in the shop. What a poor thing I am, it thinks. But then a young boy enters the store, drawn in from the damp by the warmth and lights and the wonderful smell of Christmas, and he doesn’t seem to mind that the scrawny tree isn’t tall and straight like the others. . . . This magical story, beautifully illustrated by Emily Sutton, captures an unexpected and unforgettable moment of happiness that brings a whole city together.

The climactic third novel in The Powers That Be trilogy, THE BLUE SPARK, envisions humankind’s destiny through a transformative sacrifice. Book Three in The Powers That Be trilogy, THE BLUE SPARK, paints a thought-provoking, action-packed vision of a post-invasion dystopian world with humankind on a razor’s edge between science and morality, loyalty and betrayal, hope and despair, courage and fear, evolution and extinction. A transformative sacrifice seals humankind’s destiny at the end of a celestial path. Sometimes, history repeats. THE BLUE SPARK picks up the narrative after Book Two, THE LOST SHIP, injecting readers into an intricately detailed and all-too-plausible near-future world grappling with a never-ending analog reality amid the chaos and corruption. The 510-page novel introduces the trilogy’s lynchpin, Hannah Haig (Rachel and Owen’s daughter), and a host of intriguing new characters joining the multi-generational cast of human and non-human heroes and villains. Matching wits through a complexity of interwoven storylines and gripping character arcs, the epic saga culminates with an against-all-odds celestial sacrifice to preserve humankind’s destiny in a crowded universe.

Something has happened which shouldn't be possible. A star was stolen. One minute it was there, the next it was gone. And Sara Hale, a mechanically augmented rocket officer, has the unenviable task of discovering how such a devastating phenomenon is possible - and who's to blame. Entangled somewhere in this mess is Sara's young friend, David Smith, a legendary war hero with amorous ties to their quarry. David has been tramping from star system to star system since the Yavi War ended, and he's earned a reputation for being unpredictable and utterly unstoppable. But he's fiercely loyal to Sara - or at least he always has been. Neither of them want to think about what might happen on the day their goals fail to align. Peeling back the mystery plunges Sara and her comrades down a bloody trail left by a rogue assassin, each step of which seems just a little too easy to follow. What will they find when they reach the end? What secrets lie at the Spark? And do they bode well or ill for humanity? The future of our species, indeed of all the galaxy, may soon depend upon the crew of a Rocket to the Spark!

The Spark is Kristine Barnett's remarkable memoir about being mother to a genius. Kristine Barnett's son Jacob has an IQ higher than Einstein's, a photographic memory, and he taught himself calculus in two weeks. At nine he started working on an original theory in astrophysics that experts believe may someday put him in line for a Nobel Prize, and at age twelve he became a paid researcher in quantum physics. But the story of Kristine's journey with Jake is all the more remarkable because his extraordinary mind was almost lost to autism. At age two, when Jake was diagnosed, Kristine was told he might never be able to tie his own shoes. Dramatic, inspiring, and transformative, The Spark is about the power of love and courage in the face of overwhelming obstacles, and the dazzling possibilities that can occur when we learn how to tap the true potential that lies within every child, and in all of us. 'The Spark is about the transformative power of unconditional love. If you have a child who's 'different' - and who doesn't? - you won't be able to put it down' Sylvia Nasar, author of A Beautiful Mind 'The Spark describes in glowing terms the profound intensity with which a mother can love her child' Andrew Solomon, author of Far from the Tree 'Every parent and teacher should read this fabulous book!' Temple Grandin, author of Thinking in Pictures and co-author of The Autistic Brain Kristine Barnett lives in Indiana with her husband, Michael, and their children. In 1996 she founded Acorn Hill Academy, a daycare serving local families. She and Michael currently run a charitable community centre for autistic and special-needs children and their families called Jacob's Place.

“I wish my arm or leg were lost, then you will realize what war cost, as you cannot see my mind that was lost.” Poems That Spark Discussion is the story of one veteran’s quest to find his voice and manage post-traumatic stress disorder. A collection of poetry, it features thoughts about love, fear, suicide, drugs, anger and, most importantly, survival. For many, PTSD is considered a curse; for Wayne D. Federation, it was life saving. He spent decades thinking his anger, emotional numbness, fear, insomnia, aversion to noise and crowds, and other idiosyncrasies were normal. A diagnosis of PTSD in 2012 helped him understand that the behaviour was a result of his mind trying to make sense of what he’d witnessed and experienced. Wayne wrote this book to help himself cope with the realization that he was not okay. Once he began putting his thoughts on paper, it was like opening a channel to the world.

The Lord gives each of us a task in this life. We grow and learn to listen to Him or we move on in life never hearing His voice. I called out to God and He answered my request. He then gave me my task. This is an account of my life and the amazing work He gave me. It tells of my struggles both as a child and as an adult. How I allowed the Lord to work through me, and then let satan enslave me. The poetry was given as a book of teaching and for spiritual comfort. Yet my fall was of both ignorance and pride. I do thank the Lord for His patience and enduring love. He could have allowed me to die in my many sins. Though instead God waited on me to reach out in repentance. The summary in this book is to ask you, the reader to open your hearts along with your eyes and ears to the counsel of the Holy Spirit. Please study the word of God. Do not just attend some church and take any one persons word about what will happen in the very near future. Many people will be deceived, don't become one of them.
