This volume contains forty papers from the 1st IFAC Workshop on Guidance and Control of Underwater Vehicles. The aim of the Workshop was to bring together academic practitioners and industrialists involved in this important and expanding area of interest in order to exchange experiences on recent advances in this field. Topics covered by the papers in this proceeding include UUV Control Applications, System Identification, UUV Architectures, Navigation, Modelling, Fault Detection and Reconfiguration. Contributors from Italy, Ireland, Japan, Portugal, Spain, Turkey, USA and the United Kingdom were represented at the workshop. The Workshop was voted a resounding success by all delegates and in the light of this vote of confidence the Technical Committee on Marine Systems is planning to run this event again in 2005, with the slightly amended title of Navigation, Guidance and Control of Underwater Vehicles

Modelling And Simulation Of Integrated Systems In Engineering written by D J Murray-Smith and has been published by Elsevier this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2012-05-30 with Computers categories.

This book places particular emphasis on issues of model quality and ideas of model testing and validation. Mathematical and computer-based models provide a foundation for explaining complex behaviour, decision-making, engineering design and for real-time simulators for research and training. Many engineering design techniques depend on suitable models, assessment of the adequacy of a given model for an intended application is therefore critically important. Generic model structures and dependable libraries of sub-models that can be applied repeatedly are increasingly important. Applications are drawn from the fields of mechanical, aeronautical and control engineering, and involve non-linear lumped-parameter models described by ordinary differential equations. Focuses on issues of model quality and the suitability of a given model for a specific application Multidisciplinary problems within engineering feature strongly in the applications The development and testing of nonlinear dynamic models is given very strong emphasis

Unmanned marine vehicles (UMVs) include autonomous underwater vehicles, remotely operated vehicles, semi-submersibles and unmanned surface craft. Considerable importance is being placed on the design and development of such vehicles, as they provide cost-effective solutions to a number of littoral, coastal and offshore problems. This book highlights the advanced technology that is evolving to meet the challenges being posed in this exciting and growing area of research.

Sensing And Control For Autonomous Vehicles written by Thor I. Fossen and has been published by Springer this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2017-05-26 with Technology & Engineering categories.

This edited volume includes thoroughly collected on sensing and control for autonomous vehicles. Guidance, navigation and motion control systems for autonomous vehicles are increasingly important in land-based, marine and aerial operations. Autonomous underwater vehicles may be used for pipeline inspection, light intervention work, underwater survey and collection of oceanographic/biological data. Autonomous unmanned aerial systems can be used in a large number of applications such as inspection, monitoring, data collection, surveillance, etc. At present, vehicles operate with limited autonomy and a minimum of intelligence. There is a growing interest for cooperative and coordinated multi-vehicle systems, real-time re-planning, robust autonomous navigation systems and robust autonomous control of vehicles. Unmanned vehicles with high levels of autonomy may be used for safe and efficient collection of environmental data, for assimilation of climate and environmental models and to complement global satellite systems. The target audience primarily comprises research experts in the field of control theory, but the book may also be beneficial for graduate students.

Time Critical Cooperative Control Of Autonomous Air Vehicles written by Isaac Kaminer and has been published by Butterworth-Heinemann this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2017-08-02 with Technology & Engineering categories.

Time-Critical Cooperative Control of Autonomous Air Vehicles presents, in an easy-to-read style, the latest research conducted in the industry, while also introducing a set of novel ideas that illuminate a new approach to problem-solving. The book is virtually self-contained, giving the reader a complete, integrated presentation of the different concepts, mathematical tools, and control solutions needed to tackle and solve a number of problems concerning time-critical cooperative control of UAVs. By including case studies of fixed-wing and multirotor UAVs, the book effectively broadens the scope of application of the methodologies developed. This theoretical presentation is complemented with the results of flight tests with real UAVs, and is an ideal reference for researchers and practitioners from academia, research labs, commercial companies, government workers, and those in the international aerospace industry. Addresses important topics related to time-critical cooperative control of UAVs Describes solutions to the problems rooted in solid dynamical systems theory Applies the solutions developed to fixed-wing and multirotor UAVs Includes the results of field tests with both classes of UAVs

Underwater Robots written by Junku Yuh and has been published by Springer Science & Business Media this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2012-12-06 with Computers categories.

All life came from sea but all robots were born on land. The vast majority of both industrial and mobile robots operate on land, since the technology to allow them to operate in and under the ocean has only become available in recent years. A number of complex issues due to the unstructured, hazardous undersea environment, makes it difficult to travel in the ocean while today's technologies allow humans to land on the moon and robots to travel to Mars . . Clearly, the obstacles to allowing robots to operate in a saline, aqueous, and pressurized environment are formidable. Mobile robots operating on land work under nearly constant atmospheric pressure; their legs (or wheels or tracks) can operate on a firm footing; their bearings are not subjected to moisture and corrosion; they can use simple visual sensing and be observed by their creators working in simple environments. In contrast, consider the environment where undersea robots must operate. The pressure they are subjected to can be enormous, thus requiring extremely rugged designs. The deep oceans range between 19,000 to 36,000 ft. At a mere 33-foot depth, the pressure will be twice the normal one atmosphere pressure of 29. 4 psi. The chemical environment of the sea is highly corrosive, thus requiring the use of special materials. Lubrication of moving parts in water is also difficult, and may require special sealed, waterproof joints.
