This exciting new book, which builds on the author’s previous book, Spectrum Wars: The Policy and Technology Debate, discusses the evolution of spectrum use and management caused by the rise of 5G and beyond in all wireless technologies, from terrestrial wireless, including mobile and fixed, to non-terrestrial including satellite and drone technologies. A survey of these new technologies and use cases are included, allowing the reader to understand the technical, operational, and commercial context of these systems. This book addresses how the traditional methods used in evaluating spectrum management have changed, including the use and need of low, medium, and high band spectrum to meet user demands and the use of tools such as spectrum sharing to make available much needed spectrum for 5G and beyond. The book also examines how governments are making additional spectrum available for all uses, including recent spectrum auctions, clearing, and shared networks. Public policy challenges, such as the digital divide and the impact of the pandemic, are explored in relation to their impact on spectrum management. Finally, the evolution to 6G that is already occurring, and the impact that 6G will likely have on spectrum management in the future, is reviewed. Written by an expert in the field, this book provides a thoughtful approach to the overall spectrum management regime from allocating spectrum to having it released into the market for 5G and beyond.

Details the paradigms of opportunistic spectrum sharing and white space access as effective means to satisfy increasing demand for high-speed wireless communication and for novel wireless communication applications This book addresses opportunistic spectrum sharing and white space access, being particularly mindful of practical considerations and solutions. In Part I, spectrum sharing implementation issues are considered in terms of hardware platforms and software architectures for realization of flexible and spectrally agile transceivers. Part II addresses practical mechanisms supporting spectrum sharing, including spectrum sensing for opportunistic spectrum access, machine learning and decision making capabilities, aggregation of spectrum opportunities, and spectrally-agile radio waveforms. Part III presents the ongoing work on policy and regulation for efficient and reliable spectrum sharing, including major recent steps forward in TV White Space (TVWS) regulation and associated geolocation database approaches, policy management aspects, and novel licensing schemes supporting spectrum sharing. In Part IV, business and economic aspects of spectrum sharing are considered, including spectrum value modeling, discussion of issues around disruptive innovation that are pertinent to opportunistic spectrum sharing and white space access, and business benefits assessment of the novel spectrum sharing regulatory proposal Licensed Shared Access. Part V discusses deployments of opportunistic spectrum sharing and white space access solutions in practice, including work on TVWS system implementations, standardization activities, and development and testing of systems according to the standards. Discusses aspects of pioneering standards such as the IEEE 802.22 “Wi-Far” standard, the IEEE 802.11af “White-Fi” standard, the IEEE Dynamic Spectrum Access Networks Standards Committee standards, and the ETSI Reconfiguration Radio Systems standards Investigates regulatory and regulatory-linked solutions assisting opportunistic spectrum sharing and white space access, including geo-location database approaches and licensing enhancements Covers the pricing and value of spectrum, the economic effects and potentials of such technologies, and provides detailed business assessments of some particularly innovative regulatory proposals The flexible and efficient use of radio frequencies is necessary to cater for the increasing data traffic demand worldwide. This book addresses this necessity through its extensive coverage of opportunistic spectrum sharing and white space access solutions. Opportunistic Spectrum Sharing and White Space Access: The Practical Reality is a great resource for telecommunication engineers, researchers, and students.

"The armed forces have played a key role in protecting India's sovereignty and raising its stature as a stable democracy and responsible regional power. Though the nation's soldiers, sailors and airmen occupy a special place in people's hearts, standard narratives of contemporary Indian history rarely cover the military dimension. In his first book, India's Wars: A Military History, 1947-1971, Arjun Subramaniam attempted to set this right by taking readers on a journey until the liberation of Bangladesh in 1971. Full Spectrum: India's Wars, 1972-2020 takes the story forward. It is a sweeping account of war and conflict in contemporary India over the past five decades. Covering every major operation that the armed forces have participated in - including insurgencies in the north-east, terrorism and proxy wars in Jammu and Kashmir, separatist violence in Punjab, the IPKF intervention in Sri Lanka, and the continued stress along the LoC and LAC - it fuses the strategic, operational, tactical and human dimensions of war and conflict into a racy narrative that reflects their changing character in modern times."--Provided by publisher.

Full Spectrum Dominance written by Maria Ryan and has been published by this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2019 with Political Science categories.

America's war on terror is widely defined by the Afghanistan and Iraq fronts. Yet, as this book demonstrates, both the international campaign and the new ways of fighting that grew out of it played out across multiple fronts beyond the Middle East. Maria Ryan explores how secondary fronts in the Philippines, sub-Saharan Africa, Georgia, and the Caspian Sea basin became key test sites for developing what the Department of Defense called "full spectrum dominance": mastery across the entire range of possible conflict, from conventional through irregular warfare. Full Spectrum Dominance is the first sustained historical examination of the secondary fronts in the War on Terror. It explores whether irregular warfare has been effective in creating global stability or if new terrorist groups have emerged in response to the intervention. As the U.S. military, Department of Defense, White House, and State Department have increasingly turned to irregular capabilities and objectives, understanding the underlying causes as well as the effects of the quest for full spectrum dominance become ever more important. The development of irregular strategies has left a deeply ambiguous and concerning global legacy.

Fighting In The Electromagnetic Spectrum written by Thomas Wildenberg and has been published by Naval Institute Press this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2023-08-15 with History categories.

Naval warfare was confined for centuries to surface combat, or undersea clashes. In the twentieth century aerial warfare became the third domain and shortly thereafter, the electromagnetic spectrum also appeared. Until now, little has been written about this important aspect of military conflict on the high seas. In Fighting in the Electromagnetic Spectrum author Thomas Wildenberg provides the first book covering these aircraft, their missions, and the methodology of conducting combat in all its forms along this fourth domain, the electromagnetic spectrum. When navies began to make use of the airwaves, they soon discovered those waves could also be exploited as a source of information about the opposing force. This would later be termed Electronic Intelligence (ELINT). Navies learned the value of interrupting or corrupting the enemy’s communication signals that were transmitted in the “ether,” thus began a method of fighting termed Electronic Warfare (EW). Wildenberg cuts through the secrecy about this understandably mysterious domain of combat. He offers details on aircraft and methods and provides a layman’s set of definitions of terms. Wildenberg shares lessons learned from World War II skirmishes a as well as clashes in the Korean and Vietnam wars, while providing a Fighting in the Electromagnetic Spectrum offers the reader a foundational understanding of this complex form of combat in all its forms. This volume discloses rarely covered concepts and methods which will shape future great power future conflict.
