My book is about my experiences growing up in an extremely broken and abusive home. My rebellious and destructive choices led me to being incarcerated for over ten years of my life in both state and federal prisons, years spent functioning as a severe drug addict, and being emotionally and spiritually disconnected from God and all who loved me. It is my story of love finding me and shining a light so bright that I could not deny the existence of our living God and His profound love and overwhelming mercy. It is my story of realizing that I have never been alone.

Is the Bible relevant? Of course it is. It is the story of God's redemptive love for mankind, but is it relevant to me and the particular circumstances of my life? In Speed Bumps on the Way to Heaven, I relive my own life-changing transformational stories and then put the Bible to the test. Does it have value? Yes! Is it relevant? Yes! Each chapter, each speed bump, proves that it is. Stories of all types are found within the pages of the Bible. Marvelous, wonderful stories are there. Terrible, frightening stories as well. Many are well-loved and well-known, but many are overlooked and barely known. Do the names Tamar, Amnon, and Absalom ring any bells? Their story, for example, causes their three lives and the lives of their entire nation to irrevocably and drastically change. Few today know the story, yet it is profoundly relevant to far too many of us. Join me as I survey the Bible for its parallels between my life and its characters and themes. Stories from my childhood include, but are not limited to, those relating to mother-daughter conflicts, guilt, early failure, and young marriage. Stories from adulthood include those, for example, relating to poor health, my mother's suicide, and aging parents. They are my own Speed Bumps on the Way to Heaven. I found myself in the pages of the Bible. Will you find yourself there?

The experiences I wrote about are all actual true stories (with may be a little bit of exaggeration for taste). I have heard it all, seen it all and done it all and was still able to walk through those double doors alive (barely some days).I have lived in Flatush, Brooklyn my whole life so riding the trains, buses and dollar vans (which are still called dollar vans but cost $1.50-go figure) have been my means of transportation for a long time. Even with a car, living in a city with high gas prices and congestion; mass transportation is till the way to go. I was encouraged by my former co-workers to write these experiences down and share them with the world. I was glad to know that my horrible experiences bought so much laughter and joy to those around me.

This time, we have an original mysteries by George Wilhite (courtesy of Acquiring Editor Michael Bracken) and Peter DiChellis (a locked-room mystery), as well as an original science fiction story by Larry Tritten and me. (It is a posthumous collaboration—Larry passed away in 2011. I acquired his copyrights some years ago and have been working on reprinting his stories, as longtime readers of BCW will realize. One particular story, with a terrible name, just didn’t work. So I rewrote it, retitled it, and am pleased to show it off here. I hope you all enjoy it.) And Acquiring Editor Barb Goffman found a great tale by Marcelle Dubé. We also have classic novels from British mystery author Edgar Wallace and Irish fantasist James Stephens, plus classic science fiction from Randall Garrett, J.F. Bone, and Mark Reinsberg. Good stuff. Here’s the complete lineup— Mysteries / Suspense / Adventure: “Hanged By the Neck Unti…,” by George Wilhite [Michael Bracken Presents short story] “The Puzzle Palace Perplex,” by Hal Charles [Solve-It-Yourself Mystery] “Tethered,” by Marcelle Dubé [Barb Goffman Presents short story] “Behind a Locked Door,”by Peter DiChellis [short story] The Just Men of Cordova, by Edgar Wallace [novel] Science Fiction & Fantasy: “Free-For-All-Way,” by John Betancourt and Larry Tritten [short story] “Respectfully Mine,” by Randall Garrett [short story] “The Missionary,” by J. F. Bone [short story] “The Satellite-Keeper’s Daughter,” by Mark Reinsberg [short story] The Demi-Gods, by James Stephens [novel]

So I tried my very best, considering the circumstances. I also included a touch of “The Twilight Zone.” It’s for you to decide: did this really happen? Or is it a good story? 460 460

Get Outta My Way is a memoir filled with ballsy, entertaining, often heart-breaking recollections of an amazing life. Charlotte Schiff-Booker has created her own feminist road map, chronicling a life filled with joy and disappointment, social activism, and a trailblazing career in the television industry--a world where she had to carve her own path and managed to soar to the top. Schiff-Booker is an original bad ass, and I thank her for leading the way for all us women who can now have it all. I hung on every paragraph and page of this memoir and have now passed it on to all the women I love and respect--including my eighty-six-year-old mom. Amy Sanders, Talent Manager

From the USA TODAY bestselling author of Sweet Thing and Nowhere But Here comes a love story about a Craigslist “missed connection” post that gives two people a second chance at love fifteen years after they were separated in New York City. To the Green-eyed Lovebird: We met fifteen years ago, almost to the day, when I moved my stuff into the NYU dorm room next to yours at Senior House. You called us fast friends. I like to think it was more. We lived on nothing but the excitement of finding ourselves through music (you were obsessed with Jeff Buckley), photography (I couldn’t stop taking pictures of you), hanging out in Washington Square Park, and all the weird things we did to make money. I learned more about myself that year than any other. Yet, somehow, it all fell apart. We lost touch the summer after graduation when I went to South America to work for National Geographic. When I came back, you were gone. A part of me still wonders if I pushed you too hard after the wedding… I didn’t see you again until a month ago. It was a Wednesday. You were rocking back on your heels, balancing on that thick yellow line that runs along the subway platform, waiting for the F train. I didn’t know it was you until it was too late, and then you were gone. Again. You said my name; I saw it on your lips. I tried to will the train to stop, just so I could say hello. After seeing you, all of the youthful feelings and memories came flooding back to me, and now I’ve spent the better part of a month wondering what your life is like. I might be totally out of my mind, but would you like to get a drink with me and catch up on the last decade and a half? M

Walking At The Speed Of Light written by Cheryl J. Heser and has been published by Morgan James Publishing this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2018-06-05 with Religion categories.

Walking at the Speed of Light is a perceptive offering of memoir and reflections that can be taken one at a time and provide insight and healing for all kinds of darkness. Although many books have addressed grief and depression related to Christian faith, a book that gives readers a Christian perspective on these subjects through forward thinking including organ donation and positive life building offers a unique opportunity. Walking at the Speed of Light begins with the death of Cheryl J. Heser’s thirty-three-year-old son, Joshua, the grief experiences that followed, and the organ donation that affected the lives of over 100 people. Cheryl then provides chapters related to the Light of the World, sharing insight and nurturing for grief and depression as well as an enthusiastic embracing of all aspects of the enlightened Christian faith journey.
