The Catechism Explained written by Francis Spirago and has been published by this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 1899 with Catechetics categories.

This Catechism is divided into three parts: The first part treats of faith, the second of morals, the third of the means of grace. In the first part Our Lord appears in His character of Teacher; in the second in His character of King; and in the third in His character of High Priest. And since this Catechism proposes as its primary object to answer the question, for what purpose are we here upon earth, thereby emphasizing and giving prominence to man's high calling and destiny, it is especially suited to the present day, when the pursuit of material interests, self-indulgence and pleasure, engrosses the attention of so many. This Catechism is in fact nothing more nor less than an abstract of Our Lord's teaching, and may be called a guide book for the Christian on the road to heaven. - Preface.

Christian Theology written by Robert A. Evans and has been published by Wipf and Stock Publishers this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2001-12-21 with Religion categories.

A major teaching breakthrough, Christian Theology: A Case Method Approach bridges the gap between the theological reflection and human experience and encourages fruitful dialogue between divergent interpretations. Organized around central motifs in the Apostles' Creed, nine actual cases on contemporary themes have been prepared by experienced case writers. These cases represent a variety of issues which call for a response: hunger and faith, language and commitment, doubt and death. The goal of each is to relate Christian theology to a real life situation. But how reach this goal? This is the core question, and it provides the still point around which the discussions revolve. A total of thirty four "theological briefs" by representatives of major traditions and perspectives reflect on the cases involved and the issues to be resolved.

The Doctrine Of The Holy Spirit written by George Smeaton and has been published by Ravenio Books this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2013-05-11 with Religion categories.

George Smeaton (1814–-89) was a theologian in the Free Church of Scotland, and a contemporary of Robert Murray McCheyne and the brothers Andrew and Horatius Bonar. He is best known for his twin volumes, "Christ's Doctrine of the Atonement" and "The Apostles' Doctrine of the Atonement." In "The Doctrine of the Holy Spirit" Smeaton brings biblical, theological and historical light to bear on the following topics: The Personality and Procession of the Holy Spirit The Work of the Spirit in the Anointing of Christ The Work of the Holy Spirit in Connection with Revelation and Inspiration The Spirit’s Regenerating Work on the Individual The Spirit of Holiness The Work of the Holy Spirit in the Church Writes Smeaton, "Previous to His resurrection Christ had been the receiver of the Spirit, and the Spirit was mainly limited to Christ’s own Person. With His resurrection the day came when He showed that the great result of His atoning death was the power of bestowing the Spirit upon others, a blessing so momentous that it may be described as that in which all other blessings are included. This is the grandest display of Christ’s exaltation—the culminating point,— arguing at once reward and divine dignity. For no mere servant could occupy the position of conferring upon others the gift of the Spirit, who is a divine Person. He only who had put away sin by the sacrifice of Himself, and who had the Spirit to bestow, could exercise the authority of sending Him. The Spirit was given by the risen Christ to equip His ministers and to be the all-directing as well as sanctifying power in the kingdom of heaven which was now set up, as had been expressly promised by the Old Testament prophets and by the Lord Himself (Ps. lxviii. 19; John xvi. 16)."

Types Of Pentecostal Theology written by Christopher A. Stephenson and has been published by Oxford University Press this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2016-10 with Religion categories.

"In the first critical study of the major theologians of pentecostalism, Christopher A. Stephenson establishes four original categories to classify pentecostal theologians' methodologies in systematic/constructive theology. The four categories are based on the arrangement of biblical texts, the relationship between theology and Christian spirituality, doctrine concerning the kingdom of God, and pneumatology as a basis for philosphical and fundamental theology. Stephenson analyzes each methodological type and also offers his own original contribution that argues for a reciprocal relationship between pentecostal spirituality and doctrine that follows the pattern of lex orandi, lex credendi, using the Lord's supper to demonstrate this reciprocal relationship." -- back

The Vision Of God written by Kenneth E. Kirk and has been published by James Clarke & Co. this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 1990 with Asceticism categories.

These, Bishop Kirk's Bampton Lectures of 1928, have been recognised as amongst the most important and readable works of moral theology published in the twentieth century. They provide a reasoned justification for the centrality of worship in Christian life, within the context of moral theology and ecclesiastical history. Concentrating on the development of ascetical theology in the early church, Kirk asks, "Are rigorism, self-abnegation and world-flight no more than obsolete ideals of other days, or have they too an underlying principle of which the Church and the Christian are still in need?" Despite the massive learning on which it is based, Kirk's study of the Christian doctrine of the 'summum bonum' never loses its way in a labyrinth of detail.
