Religion and spirituality have often been treated with a secular disdain by management theorists. Recently, the tide has begun to turn and there is a growing openness to cite spirituality in academic analysis and debate, and when considering issues of practical concern to those engaged in the actual business of management. This provocative book brings together a range of leading thinkers to consider the relationship between spirituality and corporate social responsibility. The book's contributors examine spirituality as an inherent dimension of corporate life even if it is only known through its absence - and through the negative consequences of this absence on people and the planet. With contributors from four continents, David Bubna-Litic has assembled a range of fascinating perspectives having their origins in traditions that include Christianity, Process Theology, Hinduism, Contemporary Buddhism, Deep Ecology, Humanism, Post-Modern and Post-Romantic Spirituality. Spirituality and Corporate Social Responsibility is a fascinating read for anyone with an interest in ways in which spirituality relates to what is or what should be driving businesses and organizations to more responsible behaviour.

Academic Paper from the year 2023 in the subject Leadership and Human Resources - Miscellaneous, grade: 18, , language: English, abstract: Spirituality manifests itself in three main ways. Employees who practice individual spirituality may believe that their company is trustworthy and that they are connected to one another on the job. Workplace spirituality at the organizational level inspires everyone in the organization to strive for excellence as well as individuality. They address both the societal level, which is related to social issues and poor environmental conditions brought on by rapid industrial growth, and the individual level by providing an environment where people get along, enjoy what they do, and have personal goals and beliefs that are in line with the organization's mission. The ethical and social responsibility aspects of workplace spirituality will be discussed in this book. The concept of workplace spirituality refers to the idea that employees can bring their spiritual or religious values and beliefs into the workplace. This can have several ethical and social responsibility implications for organizations, including respect for diversity: Encouraging workplace spirituality can help organizations to respect the diverse beliefs and values of their employees. However, organizations need to ensure that they do not discriminate against employees who do not share the same spiritual or religious beliefs. Workplace spirituality can encourage employees to be more socially responsible and to make decisions that benefit society as a whole. However, organizations need to ensure that they do not use spirituality as a way to avoid their responsibilities to society or to promote their own interests at the expense of others. To guide the practice of CSR some principles are necessary: Stakeholder principe: businesses have a responsibility not only to their shareholders, but also to a wider range of stakeholders, including employees, customers, suppliers, and the local community. All businesses should prioritize the interests of all stakeholders and not just the financial interests of shareholders. Triple bottom line principle: businesses should focus on not just financial performance, but also social and environmental performance. The triple bottom line framework includes measuring a company's success based on its economic, social, and environmental impact.

Servant Leadership Social Entrepreneurship And The Will To Serve written by Luk Bouckaert and has been published by Springer Nature this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2019-11-28 with Business & Economics categories.

This book brings together a number of important essays on the intersection of servant leadership and social entrepreneurship, examining them through a shared focus on ‘the will to serve’. This combination bears out the insight that inspiring social and economic leaders are able to transform a conflictual human settlement into a collaborative and caring human community. The book seeks to answer the question of whether we can induce from their ‘way of doing things’ a model of civic entrepreneurship and leadership that can inspire people in profit, non-profit and public organizations. It also examines the extent to which the will to serve is compatible with the will to maximize profit or the will to gain economic, political or religious power. Furthermore, it asks how far different spiritual traditions create different models and examples of servant leadership and social entrepreneurship. This book will be of interest to researchers working in the fields of business ethics, business spirituality and corporate social responsibility.

This book aims to examine sustainability and spirituality philosophically with ethics as the balancing force. The goal is to reveal the important intersection between sustainability and spirituality by using spirituality as the invisible guiding hand in the quest for sustainability. The editors and contributors examine old social and economics dilemmas from a new perspective in order to provide alternative approaches to economic and social development. The enclosed contributions cover a broad range of topics such as sustainable development and human happiness, contemporary spirituality, environmental ethics and responsibility, and corporate social responsibility. In addition, the title features real-world case studies and discussion questions that inspire self-reflection and theoretical and empirical deliberation in academic courses and business seminars. Contemporary approaches to economic and social development have failed to address humankind's abiding need for spiritual growth. For material development to be sustainable, spiritual advancement must be seen as an integral part of the human development algorithm. While the policy makers and governments can play their respective role, each one of us has to consciously adopt spirituality and sustainability as a way of life. This book will rely on the spiritual power of individuals to heal themselves and the environment. Featuring interdisciplinary perspectives in areas such as science, marine biology, environmental policy, cultural studies, psychology, philosophy, ecological economics, and ethics, this book will provide extensive insights into the complimentary fields of spirituality, sustainability and ethics.

Maximizing the Triple Bottom Line through Spiritual Leadership draws on the emerging fields of workplace spirituality and spiritual leadership to teach leaders and their constituencies how to develop business models that address issues of ethical leadership, employee well-being, sustainability, and social responsibility without sacrificing profitability, growth, and other metrics of performance excellence. While this text identifies and discusses the characteristics necessary to be a leader, its major focus is on leadership—engaging stakeholders and enabling groups of people to work together in the most meaningful ways. The authors offer real-world examples of for-profit and non-profit organizations that have spiritual leaders and which have implemented organizational spiritual leadership. These cases are based on over ten years of research, supported by the International Institute of Spiritual Leadership, that demonstrates the value of the Spiritual Leadership Balanced Scorecard Business Model presented in the book. "Pracademic" in its orientation, the book presents a general process and tools for implementing the model.

Spirituality And Ethics In Management written by Laszlo Zsolnai and has been published by Springer Science & Business Media this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2011-04-20 with Business & Economics categories.

The book - which was originally published by Kluwer in 2004 - is a collection of scholarly papers focusing on the role of spirituality and ethics in renewing the contemporary management praxis. The basic argument is that a more inclusive, holistic and peaceful approach to management is needed if business and political leaders are to uplift the environmentally degrading and socially disintegrating world of our age. The book uses diverse value-perspectives (Hindu, Catholic, Buddhist, and Humanist) and a variety of disciplines (philosophy, ethics, management studies, psychology, and organizational sciences) to extend traditional reflections on corporate purpose and focuses on a self-referential organizational-existential search for meaning, identity and success.
