English summary: At least since the time of Descartes, an inquiry into human self-consciousness has been one of the major topics in philosophy. In the last decade, influenced by neuroscientific approaches, philosophers developed naturalistic theories of human subjectivity, with the aim to explain the constitution of human self-consciousness. This study compares these naturalistic theories (e.g. Antonio Damasio, Thomas Metzinger) with analytic approaches and with idealistic interpretations of self-consciousness. Drawing on the work of Robert Nozick and Johann Gottlieb Fichte, the author argues that human self-consciousness cannot be explained in naturalistic terms. Instead, it is a spontaneous phenomenon. Finally, the authors present an original performative interpretation of self-consciousness. German text. German description: Die Untersuchung der Bedeutung und der Konstitution von menschlichem Selbstbewusstsein zahlt zu den zentralen Aufgabenstellungen der Philosophie. In den letzten Jahren wurden im Zusammenhang mit Erkenntnissen neurowissenschaftlicher Untersuchungen von menschlichem Bewusstsein naturalistische Theorien entwickelt, welche diese Aufgabenstellungen zu losen beanspruchen. Das vorliegende Buch reagiert auf diese Situation, indem naturalistische Theorien menschlicher Subjektivitat (Th. Metzinger, A. Damasio) systematisch untersucht und mit analytischen Interpretationen sowie idealistischen Theorien in Beziehung gesetzt werden. Dabei ergibt sich ein uberraschendes Bild: So haben R. Nozick und J. G. Fichte Argumente entwickelt, die zeigen, dass das Erklarungsmodell, welches den naturalistischen Theorien zugrunde liegt, aus prinzipiellen Grunden keine vollstandige Erklarung von Selbstbewusstsein ermoglicht. Im Anschluss an Uberlegungen von Nozick und J. Austin entwickelt der Autor in kritischer Auseinandersetzung mit den naturalistischen Theorien eine performative Interpretation von Subjektivitat. Selbstbewusstsein stellt demnach ein performatives Phanomen dar, das sich spontan vollzieht.

TOPOLOGIE DES LOGOS UND KANT-INTERPRETATION {sect} I. Topologie des Logos Die Geschichte der Philosophie ist die Geschichte der Entwicklung des Logos. Jedes System der Philosophie hat seinen Logos. Jedes System der Philosophie, welches seinen Logos hat, ist yom Standpunkte der Entwicklung der Philosophie als Ganzem gesehen eine notwendige Entwicklung des Logos. Die Geschichte der Philosophie ist, wie Hegel sagte, eine Entwicklung des absoluten Geistes. Aber diese Entwicklung des Logos solI man nicht als dialektische Entwicklung, wie Hegel sie sah, bezeichnen. Vielmehr befindet sich das System der Hegelschen Philosophie seiber an einer besonderen Stelle der Entwicklung des Logos. Die Entwicklung des Logos ist nicht immer dialektisch-formelle Entwicklung und wird nicht in Dialektik bis zum AuBersten getrieben. Wir mussen uns davor huten, die Entwicklung des Logos formell dialek tisch zu sehen. Vielmehr mussen wir die Entwicklung des Logos - in der Phase der notwendigen Entwicklung, in der er sich befinde- positiv betrachten. Dialektische Konstruktion der Geschichte der Philosophie auf Kosten der Tatsachen, wie Hegel sie trieb, ist dogma tisch-idealitisches Verhalten, und unser Verhalten soIl nicht solches sein. Betrachten wir positiv die Entwicklung des Logos in der Geschich te der Philosophie, so entsteht nicht dialektische Geschichtsauffassung, sondern Topologie der Entwicklung des Logos: kurz, die Topologie des Logo~. Nach der Topologie des Logos wird jedem System der Philoso phie sein Topos in der Entwicklung des Logos als Ganzem gegeben.

This work resulted from my interests in several flDldam ental issues of contemporary phenomenology. Originally, their focal point was 1) the role and importance of the subject in philosophical activity and 2) the subject's finitude. To gain a perspective on these issues, a possible approach seemed to lie in the direction of the transcendental imagination and its relation to tim e. This focus on the imagination, of course, led to Fichte's egological philosophy that explicitly centers on the imagination. Here both issues are raised together. The reader of the Fichtean texts cannot for long hesitate to pose the question of intersubjectivity. These three issues-imagination, reflection, and inter subjectivity-formed the basis of the present work. The Third International Kant Congress met at the University of Rochester from March 30 through April 4, 1970. Over two hundred students of Kant's philosophy from Europe, Africa, and North and South America attended. The Congress was organized by a Committee consisting of Gottfried Martin of the University of Bonn and myself as co-chairmen, and the following members: Professors Ingeborg Heidemann (Bonn), Gerhard Funke (Mainz), Edmond Ortigues (Rennes), Stephan Korner (Bristol), W.H.
