Südeuropa sah sich im Zuge der Wirtschaftskrise von 2008 damit konfrontiert, dass viele arbeitslos gewordene BürgerInnen, darunter auch zahlreiche AkademikerInnen, in den amtlich deutschsprachigen Raum auswanderten und bereits vor der Emigration Deutsch mit einem Berufsbezug erlernen wollten. Der Band fokussiert diese in der Öffentlichkeit bislang wenig thematisierte innereuropäische Arbeitsmigration und nimmt dabei die Verbindung mit dem DaF-Erwerb in den Blick. Er geht der Frage nach, ob die Wirtschaftskrise dazu geführt hat, die Berufsbezogenheit der Hochschullehrpläne für Deutsch als Fremdsprache in Italien und Spanien zu erhöhen, beides Länder, die besonders stark von der Krise betroffen waren. Als Basis hierfür dient ein Korpus von 40 italienischen und spanischen Hochschulcurricula, die zur Hälfte aus der Zeit vor und nach der Krise stammen und mittels einer qualitativ orientierten Inhaltsanalyse untersucht wurden.

For the first time ever, Katrin Siebel systematically explores the diverse field of multilingualism and its didactics, centring her study on one foreign language taught in schools in particular: Latin. Taking the example of Latin literary vocabulary, she demonstrates the extent to which Latin Studies can orient themselves to the present findings of relevant related disciplines (multilingual studies, studies of modern foreign languages and German as a second language). The promotion of receptive multilingualism as well as the explicit use of development strategies in Latin lessons can lead to synergy effects, which Latin Studies have long claimed to be a feature of the subject.

Der vorliegende Sammelband präsentiert Resultate eines in der Ostschweiz durchgeführten Forschungsprojektes, das den doppelten Fremdsprachenerwerb unter Berücksichtigung der Schulsprache Deutsch longitudinal bei insgesamt 1.800 Lernenden im Alter von 12 bis 14 Jahren aus der ganzheitlichen Perspektive der Mehrsprachigkeits- und Tertiärsprachenerwerbsforschung untersuchte. Die Studie situiert sich im Kontext einer weitreichenden nationalen Curriculumsreform des Fremdsprachenunterrichts. Im Zentrum standen die schriftliche Textrezeption, die schriftliche und mündliche Textproduktion sowie die Unterrichtsgestaltung aus Sicht der Lernenden und der Lehrpersonen.
