Kulturelle Vielfalt ist allgegenwartig. Besonders heutzutage kristallisieren sich einzelne Kulturen stark heraus und finden somit verstarkt Gehor, auch in Bezug auf die Sprache, die naturlich ein Teil jeder Kultur ist. So wird [...] die Sprache als Bande kultureller Zusammengehorigkeit angesehen, dann erweisen sich regionale Sprachvarianten als Indiz regionaler Teilkulturen und umgekehrt." Genau das ist in Spanien der Fall. Ein Land, doch verschiedene Sprachen, trotz einer Amtssprache im gesamten Staatsgebiet. Das allbekannte Spanisch fungiert dort eher als Oberbegriff, als soziokulturelle Norm, denn Spanien ist kein homogenes Lang in Bezug auf die Sprache. Die jeweiligen regionalen Sprachen werden auch als lenguas co-oficiales bezeichnet und sind in ihrer Region ebenfalls als Amtssprache anerkannt, nur eben lokal begrenzt. Somit ist auch klar, dass in dem sprachlich heterogenen Staat keine Einigkeit herrscht, denn noch immer mochten die einzelnen autonomen Regionen eine hohere Anerkennung ihrer Sprache als eigenstandige Sprache, statt nur das Ansehen als eine Varietat des Spanischen. Besonders die Valencianer sind erpicht sich nicht nur vom Spanischen, auch Kastilisch (span. Castellano) genannt, abzugrenzen, sondern auch dessen Varietat dem Katalanisch (span. Catalan). Von der allgemeinen Sprachentwicklung bis zum allgemeinem Verhaltnis von Katalanisch und Kastilisch im Laufe der Geschichte, zu dem Sezessionismus in Valencia. Studienarbeit aus dem Jahr 2010 im Fachbereich Romanistik - Hispanistik, Note: 1,0, Freie Universität Berlin (IZ Europäische Sprachen), Veranstaltung: HS 16695: Sprachselektion in der Geschichte Europas, Sprache: Deutsch, Abstract: Das übergreifende Anliegen der vorliegenden Arbeit besteht in der Darstellung und Diskussion des Verhältnisses zwischen der regionalen katalanischen und der überregionalen kastilischen Sprache in Spanien.1 Die Gliederung der Arbeit umfasst sowohl historische als auch zeitgenössische Aspekte der soziolinguistischen Entwicklung des/der betreffenden Sprachgebiete(s). Dabei werden zwei zentrale Themen behandelt werden, um die sich wiederum zwei weitere mit ihnen verbundene Punkte anordnen werden. Die zentralen Aspekte bestehen zum einen in einer detaillierten Darlegung der diachronen Entwicklung des Katalanischen (in Katalonien) seit dem 16. Jahrhundert und zum anderen in der Projektion der daraus gewonnenen Erkenntnisse auf das relationistische Modell des Soziologen und Philosophen Pierre Bourdieu, das in dessen Reflexiver Anthropologie ausführlich dargelegt ist. Die beiden begleitenden Punkte in dieser Arbeit sind einerseits der Frage gewidmet, wann, ob und inwieweit sich die Sprecher des Katalanischen mit denen des Kastilischen in Katalonien in einer Diglossiesituation befanden/befinden, wobei die theoretische Hauptausrichtung hauptsächlich an Fishmans (1967) Diglossiekonzeption vorgenommen werden wird; und zum anderen soll am Ende der Arbeit schließlich ein kurzer Überblick über die zeitgenössische Situation des Katalanischen gegeben und davon ausgehend einige Tendenzen dieser europäischen Sprache besprochen werden.

Recent years have seen intense debates between formal (generative) and functional linguists, particularly with respect to the relation between grammar and usage. This debate is directly relevant to diachronic linguistics, where one and the same phenomenon of language change can be explained from various theoretical perspectives. In this, a close look at the divergent and/or convergent evolution of a richly documented language family such as Romance promises to be useful. The basic problem for any approach to language change is what Eugenio Coseriu has termed the paradox of change: if synchronically, languages can be viewed as perfectly running systems, then there is no reason why they should change in the first place. And yet, as everyone knows, languages are changing constantly. In nine case studies, a number of renowned scholars of Romance linguistics address the explanation of grammatical change either within a broadly generative or a functional framework.
