This book contains the proceedings of the Workshop on Nonperturbative Methods in Quantum Field Theory, held in Adelaide, Australia, in February 1998. Lattice gauge theory and calculations based on the use of Schwinger-Dyson equations feature prominently, with further contributions in the areas of variational and functional techniques, strong interaction phenomenology and chiral perturbation theory. QCD in the infrared regime as well as QCD at finite temperatures and densities is the subject matter of a number of papers, while other authors explore chiral symmetry breaking in QCD as well as in other field theories.

Ultracold Bosonic And Fermionic Gases written by Kathryn Levin and has been published by Elsevier this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2012-07-30 with Science categories.

The rapidly developing topic of ultracold atoms has many actual and potential applications for condensed-matter science, and the contributions to this book emphasize these connections. Ultracold Bose and Fermi quantum gases are introduced at a level appropriate for first-year graduate students and non-specialists such as more mature general physicists. The reader will find answers to questions like: how are experiments conducted and how are the results interpreted? What are the advantages and limitations of ultracold atoms in studying many-body physics? How do experiments on ultracold atoms facilitate novel scientific opportunities relevant to the condensed-matted community? This volume seeks to be comprehensible rather than comprehensive; it aims at the level of a colloquium, accessible to outside readers, containing only minimal equations and limited references. In large part, it relies on many beautiful experiments from the past fifteen years and their very fruitful interplay with basic theoretical ideas. In this particular context, phenomena most relevant to condensed-matter science have been emphasized. Introduces ultracold Bose and Fermi quantum gases at a level appropriate for non-specialists Discusses landmark experiments and their fruitful interplay with basic theoretical ideas Comprehensible rather than comprehensive, containing only minimal equations

Probability And Statistical Physics In Two And More Dimensions written by Clay Mathematics Institute. Summer School and has been published by American Mathematical Soc. this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2012 with Mathematics categories.

This volume is a collection of lecture notes for six of the ten courses given in Buzios, Brazil by prominent probabilists at the 2010 Clay Mathematics Institute Summer School, ``Probability and Statistical Physics in Two and More Dimensions'' and at the XIV Brazilian School of Probability. In the past ten to fifteen years, various areas of probability theory related to statistical physics, disordered systems and combinatorics have undergone intensive development. A number of these developments deal with two-dimensional random structures at their critical points, and provide new tools and ways of coping with at least some of the limitations of Conformal Field Theory that had been so successfully developed in the theoretical physics community to understand phase transitions of two-dimensional systems. Included in this selection are detailed accounts of all three foundational courses presented at the Clay school--Schramm-Loewner Evolution and other Conformally Invariant Objects, Noise Sensitivity and Percolation, Scaling Limits of Random Trees and Planar Maps--together with contributions on Fractal and Multifractal properties of SLE and Conformal Invariance of Lattice Models. Finally, the volume concludes with extended articles based on the courses on Random Polymers and Self-Avoiding Walks given at the Brazilian School of Probability during the final week of the school. Together, these notes provide a panoramic, state-of-the-art view of probability theory areas related to statistical physics, disordered systems and combinatorics. Like the lectures themselves, they are oriented towards advanced students and postdocs, but experts should also find much of interest.

This book contains the proceedings of two international conferences: a satellite meeting of the IUPAP Statphys-19 Conference and the Seventh Nankai Workshop, held in Tianjin, China in August 1995. The central theme of the two conferences, which drew participants from 18 countries, was the Yang–Baxter equation and its development and applications. With topics ranging from quantum groups, vertex and spin models, to applications in condensed matter physics, this book reflects the current research interest of integrable systems in statistical mechanics.
