Nella seconda parte, interviene anche un giornalista cinematografico con una scheda filmica di qualità che aiuta a guardare con completezza le situazioni descritte. Il libro, alla fine, risulta avvincente e proficuo.

I Racconti di donne dal Mediterraneo, sono quelli delle migranti che abbiamo ascoltato nel corso della ricerca in Sicilia, al centro di questo mare. Con il cambiamento delle migrazioni, il flusso crescente di persone in fuga da guerre e regimi non democratici e alla ricerca di una speranza di vita migliore, sono cambiate anche le donne: ragazze e madri sempre più numerose, in cammino attraverso peripezie di ogni genere, soccombenti ad abusi e violenze lungo il viaggio, e talora anche nel paese accogliente. Come vivono l’appartenenza e il dialogo interculturale? È cambiata la loro identità? Quali sono le dinamiche per l’integrazione e l’inclusione? Abbiamo cercato delle risposte a questi interrogativi sia attraverso il testo scritto sia con un cortometraggio di Sociologia visuale (https://youtu.be/ymH6PhHC6R0) sia con un reportage fotografico. La ricerca, diretta da Carmelina Chiara Canta, è stata realizzata dai membri del laboratorio Plu.C. di Roma Tre, che hanno analizzato i diversi aspetti sociologici. Una riflessione a più voci su un tema centrale della ricerca di genere, quello della narrazione, dell’autobiografia, della memoria individuale e collettiva delle donne. C’è un filo rosso che unisce i contributi qui raccolti: la sottolineatura che il racconto di sé è uno strumento essenziale nel processo di costruzione identitaria, funzionale alla riappropriazione di una propria soggettività e, dunque, necessario alla strutturazione di un progetto di vita autentico, il più possibile libero dai condizionamenti di genere. Nello snodarsi dei vari saggi, lettrici e lettori vengono accompagnati in un percorso conoscitivo che inizia con la collocazione storica di quel periodo – il neo-femminismo degli anni Settanta – che ha portato alla luce il valore dell’autobiografia e della scrittura di sé per l’emancipazione femminile. Vengono quindi toccati alcuni temi strettamente correlati: la scrittura di sé come cura; l’importanza dei legami transgenerazionali nei processi di definizione delle identità femminili; i limiti imposti da un linguaggio androcentrico che non riesce a dare espressione al soggetto-donna; la funzione rigeneratrice del racconto nei processi migratori così come in altre situazioni di svantaggio sociale. Tutte queste voci, tutti questi studi rappresentano un’occasione di approfondimento della storia della formazione delle donne perché offrono un’inedita lettura pedagogica delle questioni di genere, orientata a un’idea di cambiamento e di trasformazione dei ruoli di genere, sia femminili che maschili.

If, as we believe, the history of languages is the history of the construction of an ideal artefact that permits a specific interpretation of the linguistic reality and helps to approve and assimilate a certain zone of diversity, enabling the accumulation of collective historical knowledge and making us identify it with a social community and a territory, then it must be agreed that languages are extremely complex entities. The new linguistic diversity that cultural globalisation and recent population movements have installed in most traditional linguistic territories has probably put the ideology of the national language into a state of crisis and, as a consequence, has made the ancient, intrinsic diversity of all languages visible, at least to the extent that this is still possible. Nowadays, then, the old linguistic diversity of dialects, of parlances, of local lexicons and the cultural forms that are reflected in these, of varieties and previously unsuccessful linguistic entities has been given a new opportunity in a world where the cohesion of societies and the welfare of citizens must be guaranteed using all available means. Looked at this way, the intricacy of languages may even open up an opportunity for local economic and social development.
