A River's Journey to the Sea is a compilation of poems expressing the poet's thoughts, feelings and experiences as she journeys through life. A compelling and moving journey of the mind; This compilation of poems takes us through a journey of love and lust, despair and hope. A truly magnificent collection of poems. Sarah J. Greg from Miami, FL Inspiring-Surreal; You ever had such deep, strong feelings about something but didn't know how to express them or share them with that special one. You ever had such deep feelings, which made you think it was somehow bad to be feeling them? And then sometimes we go to places in our heads and think things that are so pure and just normal to feel. Jacqueline's poems feel like my own life, they touched me in a way that was so surreal. Her poems have opened up a new path to new adventures of where the mind can go. We are free souls, let us fly and not fear! Well done Jacqueline, who would have ever thought feeling this way was humanely possible and so inspirational as well as uplifting. A reviewer from Toronto, Canada "An Innocence Stolen" was the most powerful piece I read. It is so horrific and truthful. I think a lot of people can relate to this and I like the end when God is questioned. I think when something bad like this happens in a person's life, we wonder, why me? It is painful to read, but a message like this needs to be heard. "Sunshine" gives people hope and it is light and fresh and is just a "feel good" piece. "A Celebration Of You" is about happiness and love to me. It is about being in love and the beauty of life that goes along with it. "If My Heart Could Speak" is also about love and happiness. It is short, sweet and to the point. "Lost Souls" is a powerful piece about the neglect, indifferent world we live in today. Kim Berg, LA, California

Trapped In Thought is one of the most profound and prodigious collection of poems by the "free form" poet Tarik Braithwaite, whose idiosyncratic talent has contributed to the entertainment of poetic readers worldwide. Trapped In Thought is an amalgam of modern and traditional styles of "free form" poetry. It distinguishes each unique character of the mind and tells the story of one who would have witness a chain of events during his days of living. Each poem display a series of events; be it depression, hurt, happiness, freedom, growth, maturity, manhood, racism, and was used to manipulate the reader's title Trapped In Thought. "We are as free as the butterfly who emerges, but it is ironic since our thoughts enslave us", said Tarik, and it is his wish to display this in his book.

The Sea Is A Continual Miracle written by Walt Whitman and has been published by University Press of New England this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2017-04-04 with Poetry categories.

From his earliest days on Long Island and in New York City to his last years in Camden, New Jersey, Walt Whitman lived close to the sea he knew and loved. The "liquid-flowing syllables" of Whitman's poetry and prose tell specific stories of particular voyages and known shores, as well as vivid flights of imagination and keening paeans to wild winds, dark water, stormy and quiet airs. The land, for Whitman, is both immutable and still, while the sea is a realm of dynamic change, mercurial temper, and the ebb and flow of cosmic uncertainty. From "Mannahatta" to "Poem of Joys" to the magisterial ode to the slain President Lincoln, "O Captain! My Captain!" Whitman wove the strands of nautical lexicon and powerful imagery into the tapestry of our national literature. In The Sea Is a Continual Miracle, poet and editor Jeffrey Yang has compiled an invaluable resource for readers, students, and scholars of Whitman, and demonstrates how seeing him through sea glass shows America's best-loved poet in a new light.

Jack was a sailor in the US Navy from 1974 until 1978. At age twenty-two, while sailing both the Atlantic and Pacific Oceans, he wrote poetry. His poems rested on land, unread for thirty-eight years in an old cardboard box. Out of Jack's sea chest comes a book of poetry that captures a historic cultural viewpoint of an American sailor at sea almost four decades ago. Jack's collection of poems reflects his observations on society during the 1960s. Themes expressed include, war, death, fame, 1960s ideals, and nature's majesty. Imagine if you will a 22 year old sailor at sea with no axes to grind, and no agenda to meet, simply writing thoughts about his experience in society during the 1960's. A thousand miles out at sea with only ocean spray, windy breezes, and blue skies. At night, a billion stars light up the heavens. Candlelight provided from God to illuminate ones thoughts. Your only companion out here is nature's presence. In this setting innocent thoughts emerge that allow total freedom of expression without the hindrance of social approval or expectations of reward. A young mind expressing heartfelt thought just capturing that inner voice that all humanity has. While listening to that inner thought, truth emerges. Pure truth that is hidden deep within each person's soul. That is the essence of the book. With these thoughts in mind, I invite you to journey with me back in time and take a glimpse of society of the 1960s. A time when youthful innocence and civil disobedience joined forces to create a consciousness so powerful that no force on earth could stop. The existing establishment could no longer govern by the rules of the past. Discover some innocent truths buried and unread for decades in the darkness of an old cardboard box. View one perception of reality about society in the 1960s that was felt and expressed in simple verse. J.L. Powell

"Nezhukumatathil’s poems contain elegant twists of a very sharp knife. She writes about the natural world and how we live in it, filling each poem, each page with a true sense of wonder." —Roxane Gay “Cultural strands are woven into the DNA of her strange, lush... poems. Aphorisms...from another dimension.” —The New York Times “With unparalleled ease, she’s able to weave each intriguing detail into a nuanced, thought-provoking poem that also reads like a startling modern-day fable.” —The Poetry Foundation “How wonderful to watch a writer who was already among the best young poets get even better!” —Terrance Hayes With inquisitive flair, Aimee Nezhukumatathil creates a thorough registry of the earth’s wonderful and terrible magic. In her fourth collection of poetry, she studies forms of love as diverse and abundant as the ocean itself. She brings to life a father penguin, a C-section scar, and the Niagara Falls with a powerful force of reverence for life and living things. With an encyclopedic range of subjects and unmatched sincerity, Oceanic speaks to each reader as a cooperative part of the earth, an extraordinary neighborhood to which we all belong. From “Starfish and Coffee”: And that’s how you feel after tumbling like sea stars on the ocean floor over each other. A night where it doesn’t matter which are arms or which are legs or what radiates and how— only your centers stuck together. Aimee Nezhukumatathil is the author of four collections of poetry. Recipient of a National Endowment for the Arts fellowship and the prestigious Eric Hoffer Grand Prize, Nezhukumatathil teaches creative writing and environmental literature in the MFA program at the University of Mississippi.
