Shakespeare Authority Sexuality written by Alan Sinfield and has been published by Routledge this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2006-09-27 with Literary Criticism categories.

Shakespeare, Authority, Sexuality is a powerful reassessment of cultural materialism as a way of understanding textuality, history and culture, by one of the founding figures of this critical movement. Alan Sinfield examines cultural materialism both as a body of ongoing argument and as it informs particular works by Shakespeare and his contemporaries, especially in relation to sexuality in early-modern England and queer theory. The book has several interlocking preoccupations: theories of textuality and reading the political location of Shakespearean plays and the organisation of literary culture today the operation of state power in the early-modern period and the scope for dissidence the sex/gender system in that period and the application of queer theory in history. These preoccupations are explored in and around a range of works by Shakespeare and his contemporaries. Throughout the book Sinfield re-presents cultural materialism, framing it not as a set of propositions, as has often been done, but as a cluster of unresolved problems. His brilliant, lucid and committed readings demonstrate that the ‘unfinished business’ of cultural materialism - and Sinfield’s work in particular - will long continue to produce new questions and challenges for the fields of Shakespeare and Renaissance Studies.

Nobles And The Noble Life 1295 1500 written by Joel T. Rosenthal and has been published by Routledge this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2021-08-29 with History categories.

First published in 1976, Nobles and the Noble Life, 1295-1500 offers a rounded picture of aristocratic life in England from the time Edward I began to call his great councillors together in ‘House of Lords’ through to the end of the Middle Ages. Professor Rosenthal’s treatment of the aristocracy takes full note of political and economic as well as personal aspects of nobility including the importance of status and the quest for security. He argues that in order to understand the nobility fully the student should consider it in the context of more modern views of elite groups and class structures. This book will be of interest to students of history primarily but also achieve a wider readership among academics more concerned with historical or political sociology than with medieval studies in their strictest sense.

Man Son Of Man written by Sri Madhava Ashish and has been published by Quest Books this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2020-09-01 with Body, Mind & Spirit categories.

This is a companion volume to, and a continuation of, Man, the Measure of All Things, by the same author (with the late Sri Krishna Prem), which dealt with The Stanzas of Dzyan relating to cosmogenesis as set forth in H. P. Blavatsky’s great work The Secret Doctrine. Man, Son of Man is a commentary of further Stanzas of Dzyan, outlining the processes of human evolution that have culminated in man as he is today. “What we believe about our origins determines what we believe about our destiny,” says the author, and he approaches his subject with the same depth of insight, the same sanity and balance, that characterized the previous work.
