The title derives from the fact that even though I know it's not strangers that I hear, to me, it's not my thoughts. I know it is really me. I hope people enjoy the ride as they follow me, as I go through my life in words. Some are whimsical, some you consider dark. I hope that they may also be able to somehow connect with events in their lives and understand the message I try to convey. I don't write on a whim. The words come to me when I am finally relaxed and alone with my thoughts.

Stranger In The Mirror written by Robert Levine and has been published by Hachette UK this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2019-02-07 with Psychology categories.

Who are we? Where is the boundary between us and everything else? Are we all multiple personalities? And how can we control who we become? From distinguished psychologist Robert Levine comes this provocative and entertaining scientific exploration of the most personal and important of all landscapes: the physical and psychological entity we call our self. Using a combination of case studies and cutting-edge research in psychology, biology, neuroscience, virtual reality and many other fields, Levine challenges cherished beliefs about the unity and stability of the self - but also suggests that we are more capable of change than we know. Transformation, Levine shows, is the human condition at virtually every level. Physically, our cells are unrecognizable from one moment to the next. Cognitively, our self-perceptions are equally changeable: A single glitch can make us lose track of a body part or our entire body, or to confuse our very self with that of another person. Psychologically, we switch back and forth like quicksilver between incongruent, sometimes adversarial sub-selves. Socially, we appear to be little more than an ever-changing troupe of actors. And, culturally, the boundaries of the self vary wildly around the world - from the confines of one's body to an entire village. The self, in short, is a fiction: vague, arbitrary, and utterly intangible. But it is also interminably fluid. And this unleashes a world of potential. Engaging, informative, and ultimately liberating, Stranger in the Mirror will change forever how you think about your self - and what you might become.

Stranger in my Bed, a new romantic suspense/ psychological thriller series, Book One: Waking Up I wake up and confused and lost… except for Ellison, the key to my past and current life. My memories are shattered images at best and make no sense, and what I’m learning about myself makes me question who I am. Clues add up to different answers. Everyone else is certain about me and what’s going on, leaving me questioning my sanity. Ellison is my lifeline. He’s also a stranger to me. Teaser: It’s too quiet. I still to listen, and then proceed silently around the corner… There’s a hallway. Another corner. Then another. I’ll never get out of here. My foot bumps something that wasn’t there before. I crouch next to something—no, someone. It’s too dark to see much but I make out a suit. Diagonal stripes on the tie. I rest a hand on his chest and it feels wet. I flip my hand over and see red. Bright red. Brighter than it should be in this black fog. I jerk awake with a gasp, then look at both of my palms in the semidarkness. I don’t see blood. I rub them together. They’re dry. Had I been holding a gun in the dream? The sensation is still there, so real that I stare at my empty hand to reassure myself. Why would I have a gun? I hear my ragged breathing and collect my thoughts enough to hold my breath and listen. At first I think I’m alone, but as my eyes adjust and see more details, I realize Ellison is still in the chair. Holding his breath too. There’s tiny points of soft light coming from plug-ins and the machines. It’s not nearly enough to see if his eyes are open. “Ellison?” No answer. “Ellison? Are you awake?” I panic, wondering what he’s thinking. What he’s doing. Updates at http://writerkristenjames.com/stranger-series/.

'In my world, the word inspirational gets bandied around a lot, but Jonny Benjamin is truly deserving of that adjective.' – HRH The Duke of Cambridge In 2008, twenty-year-old Jonny Benjamin stood on Waterloo Bridge, about to jump. A stranger saw his distress and stopped to talk with him – a decision that saved Jonny's life. Fast forward to 2014 and Jonny, together with Rethink Mental Illness launch a campaign with a short video clip so that Jonny could finally thank that stranger who put him on the path to recovery. More than 319 million people around the world followed the search. ITV's breakfast shows picked up the story until the stranger, whose name is Neil Laybourn, was found and – in an emotional and touching moment – the pair re-united and have remained firm friends ever since. The Stranger on the Bridge is a memoir of the journey Jonny made both personally, and publicly to not only find the person who saved his life, but also to explore how he got to the bridge in the first place and how he continues to manage his diagnosis of schizoaffective disorder. Using extracts from diaries Jonny has been writing from the age of thirteen, this book is a deeply personal memoir with a unique insight on mental health. Jonny was recognized for his work as an influential activist changing the culture around mental health awareness, when he was awarded an MBE in 2017. He and Neil now work full-time together visiting schools, hospitals, prisons and workplaces to help end the stigma by talking about mental health and suicide prevention. The pair ran the London Marathon together in 2017 in aid of HeadsTogether. Following the global campaign to find the stranger, in 2015 Channel 4 made a documentary of Jonny's search which has now been shown around the world. 'Jonny Benjamin is the most inspirational man I know. His book shows us how remarkable the human spirit is.' – Bryony Gordon, bestselling author of Mad Girl
