Structural Equation Modeling offers a nontechnical presentation of SEM with an emphasis on applications in social and personality psychology. The presentation begins with a discussion of the relation between SEM and statistical strategies widely used in social and personality psychology such as analysis of variance, multiple regression analysis, and factor analysis. This introduction is followed by a nontechnical presentation of the terminology, notation, and steps followed in a typical application of SEM. The reminder of the volume offers a practically-oriented presentation of specific applications using examples typical of social and personality psychology and offering advice for dealing with relevant issues such as missing data, choice of software, and best practices for interpreting and reporting results. The SAGE Library in Social and Personality Psychology Methods provides students and researchers with an understanding of the methods and techniques essential to conducting cutting-edge research. Each volume within the Library explains a specific topic and has been written by an active scholar (or scholars) with expertise in that particular methodological domain. Assuming no prior knowledge of the topic, the volumes are clear and accessible for all readers. In each volume, a topic is introduced, applications are discussed, and readers are led step by step through worked examples. In addition, advice about how to interpret and prepare results for publication are presented.

In this book, top specialists address theoretical, methodological, and empirical multilevel models as they relate to the analysis of individual and cultural data. Divided into four parts, the book opens with the basic conceptual and theoretical issues in multilevel research, including the fallacies of such research. Part II describes the methodological aspects of multilevel research, including data-analytic and structural equation modeling techniques. Applications and models from various research areas including control, values, organizational behavior, social beliefs, well-being, personality, response styles, school performance, family, and acculturation, are explored in Part III. This section also deals with validity issues in aggregation models. The book concludes with an overview of the kinds of questions addressed in multilevel models and highlights the theoretical and methodological issues yet to be explored. This book is intended for researchers and advanced students in psychology, sociology, social work, marriage and family therapy, public health, anthropology, education, economics, political science, and cultural and ethnic studies who study the relationship between behavior and culture.

Increasingly used by behavioural and social scientists, implicit measures afford investigating core psychological constructs in ways that bypass people′s willingness and ability to report their feelings and beliefs. Focused on two primary assessment tools, evaluative priming and the Implicit Association Test, the Implicit Measures volume is designed for serious practitioners and beginning researchers alike. It provides an overview of each measure, describing its theoretical underpinnings and construct validity. Each chapter then lays out "best practices" for successfully designing each method and analyzing results, revealing how to avoid common pitfalls. The Implicit Measures volume will enable students of implicit measures to decide when and how to use them in their own research, and educate consumers of research about the accomplishments and challenges of using these state-of-the art assessment techniques. Dynamic Personality Science Integrating Between Person Stability And Within Person Change written by Nadin Beckmann and has been published by Frontiers Media SA this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2017-12-28 with Electronic book categories.

Personality can be understood from at least two perspectives. One focuses on stable, between-person differences, or traits. The other perspective focuses on within-person differences and dynamics, i.e., fluctuations in personality in response to situations and across time. This Research Topic reflects recent developments in personality research to integrate both trait and dynamic perspectives. An integrated view on personality recognizes both stability in between-person differences and within-person change. Contributors are drawn from research teams across Europe, North America and Australasia, and from basic and applied fields, including organizational, educational, and clinical. The studies reported provide new evidence in support of an integrative approach, highlight currently active areas of research and propose new directions of research. Current streams of research include the study of contingent units of personality and within-person processes underlying traits, the comparisons of findings based on within- vs. between-person data, the conceptualisation and operationalization of perceived and objective change in situation variables, the malleability of personality and the potential for personality interventions. Integrative approaches using within-person designs provide new, bottom-up insights into general principles of personality that explain differences between people while reflecting the complexities of within-person personality dynamics at the level of the individual.
