The WWW era made billions of people dramatically dependent on the progress of data technologies, out of which Internet search and Big Data are arguably the most notable. Structured Search paradigm connects them via a fundamental concept of key-objects evolving out of keywords as the units of search. The key-object data model and KeySQL revamp the data independence principle making it applicable for Big Data and complement NoSQL with full-blown structured querying functionality. The ultimate goal is extracting Big Information from the Big Data. As a Big Data Consultant, Mikhail Gilula combines academic background with 20 years of industry experience in the database and data warehousing technologies working as a Sr. Data Architect for Teradata, Alcatel-Lucent, and PayPal, among others. He has authored three books, including The Set Model for Database and Information Systems and holds four US Patents in Structured Search and Data Integration. - Conceptualizes structured search as a technology for querying multiple data sources in an independent and scalable manner. - Explains how NoSQL and KeySQL complement each other and serve different needs with respect to big data - Shows the place of structured search in the internet evolution and describes its implementations including the real-time structured internet search

Seminar paper from the year 2017 in the subject Computer Science - Internet, New Technologies, grade: 1.3, LMU Munich (Institut für Informatik), course: Recent Developments in Data Science, language: English, abstract: This essay deals with a graph search for communities with corresponding keywords. The era of big data and world-spanning social networks has highlighted the necessity of ways to make sense of this vast amount of information. Data can be arranged in a graph of connected vertices, therefore giving it a basic structure. If the vertices are further described by keywords, the structure is called an attributed graph. This paper discusses a query algorithm that scans these attributed graphs for communities that are not only structurally linked - therefore forming subgraphs - but also share the same keywords. This method might give new insights into the composition of large networks, highlight interesting connections and give opportunities for effectively targeted marketing. As a specific use case, the idea of the attributed community query is applied to the example of a film recommendation program.

Implement neural search systems on the cloud by leveraging Jina design patterns Key FeaturesIdentify the different search techniques and discover applications of neural searchGain a solid understanding of vector representation and apply your knowledge in neural searchUnlock deeper levels of knowledge of Jina for neural searchBook Description Search is a big and ever-growing part of the tech ecosystem. Traditional search, however, has limitations that are hard to overcome because of the way it is designed. Neural search is a novel approach that uses the power of machine learning to retrieve information using vector embeddings as first-class citizens, opening up new possibilities of improving the results obtained through traditional search. Although neural search is a powerful tool, it is new and finetuning it can be tedious as it requires you to understand the several components on which it relies. Jina fills this gap by providing an infrastructure that reduces the time and complexity involved in creating deep learning–powered search engines. This book will enable you to learn the fundamentals of neural networks for neural search, its strengths and weaknesses, as well as how to use Jina to build a search engine. With the help of step-by-step explanations, practical examples, and self-assessment questions, you'll become well-versed with the basics of neural search and core Jina concepts, and learn to apply this knowledge to build your own search engine. By the end of this deep learning book, you'll be able to make the most of Jina's neural search design patterns to build an end-to-end search solution for any modality. What you will learnUnderstand how neural search and legacy search workGrasp the machine learning and math fundamentals needed for neural searchGet to grips with the foundation of vector representationExplore the basic components of JinaAnalyze search systems with different modalitiesUncover the capabilities of Jina with the help of practical examplesWho this book is for If you are a machine learning, deep learning, or artificial intelligence engineer interested in building a search system of any kind (text, QA, image, audio, PDF, 3D models, or others) using modern software architecture, this book is for you. This book is perfect for Python engineers who are interested in building a search system of any kind using state-of-the-art deep learning techniques.

Due to the increasing need to solve complex problems, high-performance computing (HPC) is now one of the most fundamental infrastructures for scientific development in all disciplines, and it has progressed massively in recent years as a result. HPC facilitates the processing of big data, but the tremendous research challenges faced in recent years include: the scalability of computing performance for high velocity, high variety and high volume big data; deep learning with massive-scale datasets; big data programming paradigms on multi-core; GPU and hybrid distributed environments; and unstructured data processing with high-performance computing. This book presents 19 selected papers from the TopHPC2017 congress on Advances in High-Performance Computing and Big Data Analytics in the Exascale era, held in Tehran, Iran, in April 2017. The book is divided into 3 sections: State of the Art and Future Scenarios, Big Data Challenges, and HPC Challenges, and will be of interest to all those whose work involves the processing of Big Data and the use of HPC.
