You might think you know human history, but you’ve never viewed it From His Perspective.....you like a good laugh, right? In the beginning, there was darkness and The Boss liked the darkness. He'd spent years creating the darkness. He was proud of the darkness. Unfortunately, his assistant Norbert liked to snack while working and had a very sensitive nose. Had he not been in charge of monitoring the black holes this may not have been a problem but, as it was, a violent sneeze launched a single biscuit crumb into the darkness, and it was no more. A huge explosion rocked the Factory (better known to us as Planet Earth) and, for The Boss and Norbert, the real work began - they had to deal with life. Life, as they found out, had an awful habit of not staying true to their designs, however carefully they drew up the blueprints. Suddenly, there were fish who wanted to live on the land, a dinosaur who went around killing everything it met, and then, of course, there was man — the Boss’ most distinguished and regrettable invention. He and Norbert watch from their viewing platform as the human race blunders its way through history and do what they can to ensure that the entire species doesn't render itself extinct. They watch as cavemen tackle woolly mammoths in order to fill their larders and provide next season’s wardrobe and quickly regret introducing them to fire. When tyrants rise up against their fellow man in Ancient Egypt, rivers run red with blood and plagues of frogs are visited on the Egyptians as the Boss and Norbert try to distract the evil doers from their purpose. Unfortunately, their intervention does nothing more than interrupt the Egyptian's laundry schedule and promote an increase in sales of sandal cleaner. The Boss has decades of sinus infections and soot covered sandals as Henry VIII and Bloody Mary take power and decide that burning their fellow humans is a perfectly acceptable way to get their point across. Wars, the industrial revolution, slavery and empire building - all it does for Norbert and his Boss is push up their overtime budget, create more paperwork and cause them to stress eat chocolate biscuits. Not only that but the human's blatant disregard for their habitat means braving the really long ladders to make repairs to the ozone layer.

First Time Up written by Brock Dethier and has been published by this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2005 with Education categories.

"First time up?"—an insider’s friendly question from 1960s counter-culture—perfectly captures the spirit of this book. A short, supportive, practical guide for the first-time college composition instructor, the book is upbeat, wise but friendly, casual but knowledgeable (like the voice that may have introduced you to certain other firsts). With an experiential focus rather than a theoretical one, First Time Up will be a strong addition to the newcomer’s professional library, and a great candidate for the TA practicum reading list. Dethier, author of The Composition Instructor’s Survival Guide and From Dylan to Donne, directly addresses the common headaches, nightmares, and epiphanies of composition teaching—especially the ones that face the new teacher. And since legions of new college composition teachers are either graduate instructors (TAs) or adjuncts without a formal background in composition studies, he assumes these folks as his primary audience. Dethier’s voice is casual, but it conveys concern, humor, experience, and reassurance to the first-timer. He addresses all major areas that graduate instructors or new adjuncts in a writing program are sure to face, from career anxiety to thoughts on grading and keeping good classroom records. Dethier’s own eclecticism is well-represented here, but he reviews with considerable deftness the value of contemporary scholarship to first-time writing instructors—many of whom will be impatient with high theory. Throughout the work, he affirms a humane, confident approach to teaching, along with a true affection for college students and for teachers just learning to deal with them.

Few dare venture into the Borwood Timberland--a vast forest steeped in sky-piercing trees, demon creatures, and legend. Few, except Kor. An ancient gift pulses in his veins. The blood of shifting kings and queens flows through him. But he has forgotten his past and his lineage. Oblivious to his power, blind to his gift, his nightmares hold him captive. Now a tyrant wants him dead. When a strange, amber-eyed girl braves the forest in search of a rare flower and encounters a borlan, Kor has a choice: run, or face the spined demon-beast to help her. His decision sparks a chain of events that sends him to rot in the salt mines of Perabon and pits him against a ruthless mercenary. His path awakens his gift, recalls his past, and unveils a murderous intrigue. Badgerblood: Awakening is the first book in a new YA fantasy series. It is a tale of adventure, peril, and perseverance with plenty of humor and intrigue and a sprinkle of magic and romance. The world is full of strange creatures and unique vegetation, and brimming with a wide assortment of characters ranging from tyrannical to quietly heroic. The protagonist has a shapeshifting power he doesn't fully realize and no clear memories of his heritage or life before the forest. A dangerous encounter takes him from his home and sets him on an even more dangerous path to discovery. Praise for Badgerblood: Awakening From Early-Access Readers: "Badgerblood is full of intrigue, magic, and adventure. I found it difficult to put down and could hardly wait to see what new pursuits befell Kor. If you enjoyed reading books like John Flanagan's Ranger's Apprentice or Brandon Mull's Fablehaven you'll enjoy Badgerblood. S.C. Monson's writing style captivates the reader from the beginning, leaving the reader wanting more. I look forward to reading future Badgerblood books."--Coreen H. "Badgerblood was a fun read from start to finish. S.C. Monson has done a great job crafting an original fantasy novel with rich descriptions and a gripping plot. With Badgerblood's plot woven around an original fairytale, S.C. Monson's writing style reminds me of Megan Whalen Turner. Shannon's writing flows well and is full of witty dialogue."--Michelle R. "Dive headfirst into this world of mystery, action, intrigue, and a dash of romance, and you'll turn pages faster than you thought possible!"--K. Laursen "I was wanting more as I finished the final page of Badgerblood! S.C. Monson's writing drew me into the imaginary world of Caderia. The fight scenes were tastefully done with plenty of excitement and intensity. S.C. Monson's writing was creative, descriptive, and well-paced. With twists and turns in the plot, I was eager to discover what would happen next and would keep reading chapter after chapter. I highly recommend Badgerblood to any reader who enjoys fantasy and adventure. I look forward to discovering what will happen next in the Badgerblood series!"--Haley J. "Badgerblood was a great surprise! It wasn't predictable and after each chapter I kept wanting to know what was going to happen next! I look forward to reading more of S.C. Monson's work!"--Paige S. "There are many fantastic ideas in this book, from innovative details in world design to interesting plot twists. Written for young adults but entertaining for all, Badgerblood...created an effortless movie in my head. Filled with intrigue, it kept me engaged all the way to the end--and beyond! I can't wait for the next book!"--Michelle E.

Brain Compatible Differentiated Instruction For English Language Learners written by Marjorie Hall Haley and has been published by this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2010 with English language categories.

What is brain-compatible teaching? It emphasizes teaching the way the brain learns naturally. Brain-compatible teaching takes what we know about the structures and functions of the brain and uses it to create "brain-friendly" instructional strategies and assessment practices. Brain-compatible teaching addresses multiple intelligences and learning styles. Focus is placed on the student as an individual. Lessons and assessments are structured in ways that allow every student to reach their full potential. Students are encouraged to draw on their background knowledge, linguistic and cultural experiences, and use these tools as life-long learners. When teaching and assessment practices reflect the myriad students in our classrooms today, success is inevitable. Brain-Compatible Differentiated Instruction for English Language Learners is written for teachers looking for solid instructional practices that work well with mainstream as well as English Language Learners (ELLs.) Drawing on the most current neuroscience research, the authors have give a theoretical overview of the twelve topics that contribute to successful brain-compatible teaching and learning and differentiating instruction for ELLs. The book then examines differentiating instruction and how to use such strategies as anchor activities and structures and provides sample lessons of each. Several examples are given to further illustrate aligning teaching with the standards. The book includes five 1-day lesson plans and two 5-day lesson units of activities that demonstrate sustained teaching. These are divided into topic areas and grade levels.
