Työinformatiikassa työ saa kolmet kasvot: yksilön työ, yhteistyö ja palvelut. Niiden palvelemiseen tietotekniikka sulautuu. Kirjassa esitetyt Laboris-tutkimusryhmän tapaustutkimukset alleviivaavat työinformatiikan kuvaus- ja selitysvoimaa.
