Risk Based Reliability Analysis And Generic Principles For Risk Reduction written by Michael T. Todinov and has been published by Elsevier this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2006-11-03 with Technology & Engineering categories.

This book has been written with the intention to fill two big gaps in the reliability and risk literature: the risk-based reliability analysis as a powerful alternative to the traditional reliability analysis and the generic principles for reducing technical risk. An important theme in the book is the generic principles and techniques for reducing technical risk. These have been classified into three major categories: preventive (reducing the likelihood of failure), protective (reducing the consequences from failure) and dual (reducing both, the likelihood and the consequences from failure). Many of these principles (for example: avoiding clustering of events, deliberately introducing weak links, reducing sensitivity, introducing changes with opposite sign, etc.) are discussed in the reliability literature for the first time. Significant space has been allocated to component reliability. In the last chapter of the book, several applications are discussed of a powerful equation which constitutes the core of a new theory of locally initiated component failure by flaws whose number is a random variable. - Offers a shift in the existing paradigm for conducting reliability analyses - Covers risk-based reliability analysis and generic principles for reducing risk - Provides a new measure of risk based on the distribution of the potential losses from failure as well as the basic principles for risk-based design - Incorporates fast algorithms for system reliability analysis and discrete-event simulators - Includes the probability of failure of a structure with complex shape expressed with a simple equation

Many books on reliability focus on either modeling or statistical analysis and require an extensive background in probability and statistics. Continuing its tradition of excellence as an introductory text for those with limited formal education in the subject, this classroom-tested book introduces the necessary concepts in probability and statistics within the context of their application to reliability. The Third Edition adds brief discussions of the Anderson-Darling test, the Cox proportionate hazards model, the Accelerated Failure Time model, and Monte Carlo simulation. Over 80 new end-of-chapter exercises have been added, as well as solutions to all odd-numbered exercises. Moreover, Excel workbooks, available for download, save students from performing numerous tedious calculations and allow them to focus on reliability concepts. Ebeling has created an exceptional text that enables readers to learn how to analyze failure, repair data, and derive appropriate models for reliability and maintainability as well as apply those models to all levels of design.

Vitamin C written by M B Davies and has been published by Royal Society of Chemistry this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2007-10-31 with Science categories.

Vitamin C is the first book to cover the history, chemistry, biochemistry, and medical importance of vitamin C and is the first to provide an in-depth, interdisciplinary study of this essential and fascinating compound. The book provides a comprehensive and systematic account of the vitamin C story, fully surveying the history of scurvy and how its cure led to the suggestion, discovery, and isolation of the vitamin, later named L-ascorbic acid. It describes in detail the vitamin's structure determination, synthesis and manufacture, and its oxidation products, derivatives and related compounds. Its key biochemical roles are fully categorized and explained, and the medical importance of the vitamin, including the recent use of so-called megadoses, is thoroughly discussed. Vitamin C will be of interest to a very wide readership and will provide useful background information and inspiration for students at various levels. It will also be relevant to the interested chemist or lay person, as well as those carrying out research in this area.

Primate Anatomy is unlike ay other work on primates: it systematically reviews the biology of all living primates, including humans. It describes their bio-geographical information and provides crucial data pertaining to their body size, fur coloration external distinguishing features, habitat and basic life strategies. Now in its third edition, Primate Anatomy discusses species that are new to science since the last edition with details concerning anatomical features among primates that were re-discovered. New research in molecular primatology is also included due to recent relevant findings in molecular biology in accordance with new technology. The basics of biological taxonomy are introduced, along with photographs of all major groups. Important new and controversal issues make this edition key for every primatologists, anthropologist, and anatomist. - Offers up-to-date reviews of molecular primatology and primate genomics - Concentrates on living primates and their overall biology - Discusses the genetic connection of function where known - Introduces primate genomics for the first time in a textbook - Provides instructive and comprehensive review tables - Includes many unique, novel and easily understandable illustrations

Flight Dynamics Principles written by M. V. Cook and has been published by Hodder Education this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 1997-01-31 with Science categories.

The modern flight dynamicist requires a thorough understanding of the classical stability and control theory of aircraft, a working appreciation of flight control systems, and consequently, a grounding in the theory of automatic control. In this text, the author fulfils these requirements by developing the theory of stability and control of aircraft in a systems context. The key considerations are introduced using dimensional or normalised dimensional forms of the aircraft equations of motion. Through necessity, the scope of the text is limited to linearised small perturbation aircraft models. The material is intended for those coming to the subject for the first time, and provides a secure foundation from which to move into non-linear flight dynamics, simulation and advanced flight control. Placing emphasis on dynamics and their importance to flying and handling qualities, it is accessible to both the aeronautical engineer and the control engineer.

The large interest granted to this book made a 4th edition necessary. The structure of the book is unchanged, with its main part in Chapters 1 - 8 and self contained appendices Al - A5 on management aspects and A6 -A8 on basic probability theory, stochastic processes & statistics. Such a structure allows rapid access to practical results and a comprehensive introduction to the mathematical foundation of reliability theory. The content has been extended and reviewed. New models & considerations have been added to Appendix A 7 for stochastic processes (NHPP), Chapter 4 for spare parts provisioning, Chapter 6 for complex repairable systems (imperfect switching, incomplete coverage, items with more than two states, phased-mission systems, fault tolerant reconfigurable systems with reward and frequency / duration aspects, Monte Carlo simulation), and Chapters 7 & 8 for reliability data analysis. Some results come from a stay in 2001 as Visiting Fellow at the Institute of Advanced Study of the University of Bologna. Performance, dependability, cost, and time to market are key factors for today's products and services. However, failure of complex systems can have major safety consequences.
