Critical Success Factors For Agile Project Management In Non Software Related Product Development Teams written by Jeff Totten and has been published by this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2017 with Agile software development categories.

The use of agile project management methods in the software development industry is well established and researched. The purpose of this study is to understand whether agile project management methods (Scrum in particular) used successfully in the software industry are also being used in full, or in part, in non-software development industries when managing product development projects. Using an online survey instrument, data was collected from 329 non-software/IT global practitioners to identify in what industries and work functions agile project management methods are used, to find the independent variables that have a significant relationship with project success, and to determine the reasons why agile project management methods may not be used in non-software development industries. Project success was defined by 11 separate dependent variables. Of the respondents, 238 (72%) used agile project management methods to some degree, and of those, 150 (63%) used the Scrum Framework. Results from this survey show that agile project management is used in industries other than software development, mainly in manufacturing, training and consulting, research and development, and education. Four independent variables that showed significance with project success included: (1) the commitment by management with a clear vision, (2) holding daily stand-up meetings, (3) keeping task sizes small, and (4) using visual management. The main reason for not using agile project management is insufficient time to change from current methods. These findings suggest that agile project management methods are being used in industries outside of software development. Further, a small number of significant independent variables can be used to predict multiple dependent variables of project success.

Studienarbeit aus dem Jahr 2009 im Fachbereich BWL - Informationswissenschaften, Informationsmanagement, Note: 1,0, Hochschule Deggendorf, Sprache: Deutsch, Abstract: Traditional, inflexible management is inefficient in product development projects: Project members feel uncomfortable and the result does not meet customer’s expectation. Therefore project management needs a kind of reorientation. The key success factors are the performance of the project team and the understanding of the customers’ needs. Therefore the main goal of today’s project management is to create the right environment for the project. Agile project management promises to be a solution: It supports team performance and demands short project cycles. Short iteration and continuous feedback of the customers helps to stay on the right way and to adjust requirements if possible. A popular example of agile project management is SCRUM. This study paper gives an overview about SCRUM itself. It presents roles, ceremonies and artifacts. It shows that SCRUM centers the team and the whole process is build around the team. The rules of SCRUM are simple and can easily be adapted. The focus of this paper is the roles of the process and how SCRUM supports team performance.

Master's Thesis from the year 2017 in the subject Business economics - Business Management, Corporate Governance, grade: 1,85, University of Applied Sciences Osnabrück, language: English, abstract: This thesis analyzes the effects of agility on the success of change management. The goal is to answer the question whether and how the use of agile methods can be beneficial in this field by analyzing the impact of exemplary methods on distinct success factors of change management. Agility is on trend. Agile organizations will have a growing need for agile change frameworks in the future. Therefore, the discipline of change management could benefit from influences and inspirations from agile project management methods, which have gained popularity in recent years. The examples for agile methods chosen for analysis in this thesis are Scrum and Design Thinking. Scrum is the method used most in software industry, where the trend for agile project management has its roots. In contrast, Design Thinking stems from the area of innovation. It is also described as the exact opposite of project management as we know it. The two methods share many similarities, like their focus on collaboration and an iterative process, but they approach projects in different ways.

This book list with examples the most common methodologies applied in project management. There are numerous definitions of methodology in project management. However, there is a shared fundamental principle across all definitions. That is, methodology in project management helps project managers direct the project, and keep it in track. Methodology help organizations to achieve outcomes that aligned with strategic objectives. This is especially true when considering that projects are expensive, changing and time consuming in nature. All projects have three main components that a Project Manager (PM) constantly struggle with; cost, time, and quality. Various approaches to project methodology are the means of organizing and directing projects. These components are limitations that shape projects in the form of outcomes, deadlines and resources. As such, choosing the right methodology help achieve desired objectives and set outcomes in a most efficient and effective manner. There are six common types of project management methodologies. Each part will be discussed with explanation of its sub-parts. This body of work is written while working in California’s Silicon Valley as project manager, and teaching project management to MBA students. The intent of this work is to clarify the various methodologies applied in project management and simply these concepts to those learning project management, and to those studying it. A study on critical success factors has been included at the end of this book to illustrate the importance of culture and the role cultural values play in defining project successes and failures for the benefit of the reader.

Seminar paper from the year 2017 in the subject Computer Science - Commercial Information Technology, grade: 1,0, University of Cologne (Seminar für Wirtschaftsinformatik und integrierte Informationssysteme), course: Hauptseminar, language: English, abstract: IT outsourcing (ITO) engagements have become one of the prevailing IT strategies. Moreover, agile software development (ASD) approaches tend to replace traditional, sequential methods. Injecting ASD into ITO leads to agile global or distributed outsourced development (AGOSD/ADOSD) projects characterized by using agile methods within distributed environments rising the challenge of facilitating coordination and collaboration between teams. Especially communication between client and external vendor became one of the major critical success factors. Consequently, my study examines communication practices within global IT projects. (1) I conducted a structured literature review to extend the list of communication practices provided by prior studies. (2) I consolidated and categorized them. (3) By having performed expert interviews, I deployed a ranking pointing out their practical relevance.
