The fieldwork educator manual depicts three fully developed units focused on professional development in the role of a leader and an educator. Implementation moves toward scholarship in the form of a proposed presentation publisher to be delivered after this capstone. Wheels are already turning with the implementation of a signed authorship agreement, and this capstone project is about to be set in motion in its scholarly journey toward the AOTA Centenntial Vision.

"PURPOSE. To explore the preparatory practices that occupational therapy fieldwork educators participated in to help prepare them for education fieldwork students. PARTICIPANTS. Seventy-two people responded to the survey. Subjects consisted of both occupational therapists and occupational therapy assistants, who have served as a fieldwork educator within the past ten years at a fieldwork site currently affiliated with Saginaw Valley State University's Master of Science in Occupational Therapy program. METHODS. Information was obtained through an online, researcher-designed survey, which contained ten open and closed-ended questions. RESULTS. Many of the preparatory practices engaged in by occupational therapy fieldwork educators were perceived as beneficial. A majority of the survey respondents who participated in MOTEC fieldwork educator workshops(s), certification courses, and who shared the responsibility of educating a student with another occupational therapist, found these preparation practices to be helpful. One of the most common preparatory practices engaged in involved reviewing coursework completed during primary occupational therapy education; results indicate that only 4% of participants to partake in preparatory practices if they were offered personal incentives and increased access to preparation resources. CONCLUSION. Occupational therapy fieldwork educators who participated in preparatory practices were found to be valuable, additional motivational factors would increase occupational therapy fieldwork educators' participation in preparatory practices." -- From page 2.
