This book synthesizes the current research on headache triggers and details how improving the measurement properties of trigger assessments can benefit clinical and research efforts. The book begins with a detailed exploration of the history of triggers and their use in attempts to assign causes to headache attacks. Subsequent chapters then expound on the existing schools of thought on headache triggers with discussions of understudied influences on the causal assignment process, such as the role of individual trigger beliefs and perceptions. After laying this groundwork, the practical application of trigger assessment is thoroughly detailed, including assessment design types and methods of analysis. Chapters then outline the applications of trigger assessment in research and clinical practice. To conclude, the book relays descriptions of future directions and evolving theories in the area. Concise and comprehensive, Assessing Headache Triggers is an invaluable resource for clinicians who treat patients and investigators who aim to improve the lives of individuals with headache through their research.

Triggering Of Acute Coronary Syndromes written by S.N. Willich and has been published by Springer Science & Business Media this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2012-12-06 with Medical categories.
Cardiovascular diseases account for about half of total mortality in industrialised societies. This figure has declined only slightly and in few countries over the past few decades, which is disturbing in view of our increasing insight into long-term risk factors of coronary heart disease and the dramatic improvement in the acute therapy of its manifestations. One important reason for this is the high fatality during the initial hours of a coronary event, i.e. before medical treatment can be provided. Approximately one quarter of all patients suffering an acute cardiac event die prior to admission to hospital. As a result, the focus of current research has shifted from after-the-fact therapy to the triggering phase of acute coronary disease. Epidemiological observations of recent trends and newly identified determinants of coronary disease and the results of substantial pathophysiological studies of the conversion from chronic coronary disease to an acute event provide the basis for new hypotheses about the triggering mechanisms. The ultimate goal is to design more effective preventive strategies for these deadly diseases. The present extensive summary of important scientific and clinical developments in the study of the triggering and prevention of coronary syndromes that have been seen over the last ten years contains the contributions of leading experts in the field. It presents a cooperative, balanced view derived from physicians and researchers in the U.S. and Europe.

Navigating The Health Care System As A Dizzy Patient written by Dr. Kim Bell, PT DPT and has been published by Christian Faith Publishing, Inc. this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2024-12-02 with Health & Fitness categories.
Dizziness is one of the most unexplained and under-treated symptoms in health care today. If you experience dizziness or vertigo, your health care provider will first rule out a cardiac or neurological emergency. If you are cleared, and I certainly hope you are, then you will enter the maze of the traditional health care system. The next steps will more than likely include referrals to other specialists and medications to help with your symptoms. And so, your journey begins. You will be thrust into what I call "navigating the health care system as a dizzy patient." This is a daunting task and is not for the faint of heart. I know. I have been there. Long before I began my studies in physical therapy, I suffered from chronic, recurring--and often debilitating--spells of dizziness and vertigo. After years of searching for answers about my condition, I was able to solve my own complicated case. Thankfully, I had learned that the key to properly diagnosing and effectively treating dizziness and vertigo is root cause evaluation. Lack of root cause evaluation can delay your recovery for months to years, and this lack leaves many cases unsolved. My private practice for patients with dizziness and vertigo is based in San Diego, California, USA, and many patients have traveled here from all over the world to consult with me in person. Yet I receive queries frequently from patients worldwide who cannot travel here for my care. Because of the overwhelming number of requests I receive from people outside my service area and because of my mission to help dizzy patients regain some normalcy, I have written this book as a guide to help you learn how to find proper care and the correct treatment plan, with or without an accurate diagnosis. Essentially, you will be asked to put on a sleuth-like hat and become a vertigo detective. With some education and solid guidance, I believe you can learn how to properly navigate the health care system to achieve the best possible outcome for your case of dizziness or vertigo. I want to help you get your life back!
