Over the last 15 years, there has been renewed interest in supercritical fluids owing to their unique properties and relatively low environmental impact. Greatest attention has been given to the extraction and separation of organic compounds. Supercritical fluids have also been successfully used for particle production, as reaction media, and for the destruction of toxic waste. Supercritical carbon dioxide has been the most widely used supercritical fluid, mainly because it is cheap, relatively nontoxic, and has convenient critical values. Supercritical fluids have also been used on analytical and preparative scales for many biological and other applications. Many papers have been published on the use of supercritical fluids. However, few have acted as a detailed instruction manual for those wanting to use the techniques for the first time. We anticipate that this Methods in Biotechnology volume, Supercritical Fluid Methods and Protocols will s- isfy the need for such a book. Every chapter has been written by experienced workers and should, if closely followed, enable workers with some or no previous experience of supercritical fluids to conduct experiments successfully at the first attempt.

Principles And Practices Of Method Validation written by A Fajgelj and has been published by Royal Society of Chemistry this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2007-10-31 with Science categories.
Principles and Practices of Method Validation is an overview of the most recent approaches used for method validation in cases when a large number of analytes are determined from a single aliquot and where a large number of samples are to be analysed. Much of the content relates to the validation of new methods for pesticide residue analysis in foodstuffs and water but the principles can be applied to other similar fields of analysis. Different chromatographic methods are discussed, including estimation of various effects, eg. matrix-induced effects and the influence of the equipment set-up. The methods used for routine purposes and the validation of analytical data in the research and development environment are documented. The legislation covering the EU-Guidance on residue analytical methods, an extensive review of the existing in-house method validation documentation and guidelines for single-laboratory validation of analytical methods for trace-level concentrations of organic chemicals are also included. With contributions from experts in the field, any practising analyst dealing with method validation will find the examples presented in this book a useful source of technical information.

Advances In Lipid Methodology written by R O Adlof and has been published by Elsevier this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2003-10-01 with Technology & Engineering categories.
The fifth volume in the Advances in lipid methodology series is the first with new editor, Richard O. Adlof, but its objectives are still those of the previous editor, William W. Christie: 'To provide readable, up-to-date reviews of rapidly expanding areas of lipid analysis and practical examples which should be of immediate use to lipid analysts'.As in the previous volumes of Advances in lipid methodology, the editor has chosen leading international experts to write individual chapters. Volume 5 contains four chapters on specific methodologies of lipid analysis and three which describe specific applications or standardization of methods. The methodologies are different scanning calorimetry for the study of physical properties of fats and oils; silver ion chromatography; atmospheric-pressure chemical-ionization mass spectrometry (APCI-MS); and supercritical fluid chromatography (SFC).Chapters on specific applications cover the analysis of genetically modified oils and the use of fatty acid profiling in the characterization of metabolic diseases. A further chapter provides an overview of the official standard methods used for fats and oils analysis and gives extensive listings of information on standards organizations.

Preservation of food is a top priority in today’s food processing industry, which focuses on nutrients, texture, and sensorial characteristics of food products. Supercritical fluid extraction is a process that is a “green” method that allows rapid extraction of bioactive compounds at reduced cost. This new volume investigates technologies within this extraction process, starting with an introduction and proceeding on to the design, applications for quality, and regulatory aspects. A wide range of research demonstrating the successful application of this method in different food products, ranging from, milk, meat, fish, grains, fruits and vegetables, and other foods, is discussed. The book explores the opportunities and challenges, properties, chemistry fluids, operating conditions and yield, modeling of supercritical fluid extraction, analytical applications, chromatography, micro- and nano-scale materials, extraction of phytochemicals from plants, application in fruits, vegetables, spices, herbs, oilseeds, food byproducts, and more.

Handbook Of Synthetic Methodologies And Protocols Of Nanomaterials In 4 Volumes written by and has been published by World Scientific this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2019-08-13 with Science categories.
This comprehensive book set includes four volumes, covering the methods and protocols for the synthesis, fabrication, and characterization of nanomaterials. The first two books introduce the solution phase and gas synthesis approaches for nanomaterials, providing a number of most widely used protocols for each nanomaterial. An exhaustive list of nanomaterials are included, which are arranged according to the atomic number of the main element in the compound for easy search. For each material, the protocols are categorized according to the morphology of the nanostructure. A detailed reference is included in each protocol to point the readers to the source of the protocol. The third book describes many unconventional methods for the fabrication of nanostructures, including lithography and printing, self-assembly, chemical transformation, templated synthesis, electrospinning, laser induced synthesis, flame and plasma synthesis, and atomic layer deposition processes. The fourth book covers the typical methods for structural characterization of nanomaterials, including electron diffraction, electron microscopy, atomic force microscopy, scanning tunneling microscopy, X-ray diffraction, in-situ and operando X-ray techniques, X-ray absorption fine structure spectroscopy, static and dynamic light scattering, vibrational characterization methods, and NMR spectroscopy. In addition to the introduction of the basic operational principles of these tools, the book focuses explicitly on how they can be applied for analyzing nanomaterials. The handbook is a complete reference that can provide readers easily accessible information on how to synthesize and characterize nanomaterials desired for their target applications.

Green Solvents I written by Ali Mohammad and has been published by Springer Science & Business Media this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2012-03-13 with Science categories.
The conventional solvents used in chemical, pharmaceutical, biomedical and separation processes represent a great challenge to green chemistry because of their toxicity and flammability. Since the beginning of “the 12 Principles of Green Chemistry” in 1998, a general effort has been made to replace conventional solvents with environmentally benign substitutes. Water has been the most popular choice so far, followed by ionic liquids, surfactant, supercritical fluids, fluorous solvents, liquid polymers, bio-solvents and switchable solvent systems. Green Solvents Volume I and II provides a throughout overview of the different types of solvents and discusses their extensive applications in fields such as extraction, organic synthesis, biocatalytic processes, production of fine chemicals, removal of hydrogen sulphide, biochemical transformations, composite material, energy storage devices and polymers. These volumes are written by leading international experts and cover all possible aspects of green solvents’ properties and applications available in today’s literature. Green Solvents Volume I and II is an invaluable guide to scientists, R&D industrial specialists, researchers, upper-level undergraduates and graduate students, Ph.D. scholars, college and university professors working in the field of chemistry and biochemistry.
