Die fachlichen Wurzeln der Supervision entstammen unterschiedlichen Professionen und disziplinären Ansätzen, wie beispielsweise tiefenpsychologischen, verhaltenstherapeutisch orientierten, humanistischen, systemtheoretischen und konstruktivistischen Zugängen. Im Zuge der Ausdifferenzierung von Beratungsangeboten ist es wichtig zum Verständnis der Professionalisierungstendenzen die Entwicklungslinien zu skizzieren und darzustellen. Die Geschichte der Supervision ist wichtig zum Verständnis der aktuellen Situation, daher werden die ausdifferenzierten Formate und ihre wissenschaftstheoretischen Grundlegungen beschrieben.
