Mon cheminement 2015 vers Saint-Jacques de Compostelle est le plus long que j'ai parcouru à pied : 2 587 km en 103 jours de marche, plus 11 jours comme hospitalier-accueillant au Puy-en-Velay. En France : la voie de Genève jusqu'au Puy-en-Velay, la Régordane (à travers les Cévennes) et la voie d'Arles jusqu'au col du Somport. En Espagne : le camino Aragones, le Camino Norte, le Camino Primitivo, la fin du Camino Frances jusqu'à Santiago. Au Portugal : Le caminho Portugues depuis Lisbonne, avec une mission à Fatima, puis détour après Redondela par la Ruta Maritima jusqu'à Padron, et de nouveau Santiago. Plus de 300 images couleurs accompagnent ce cheminement, près d'un millier sont visibles sur mon blog : www.bourguignon-la-passion.fr Auteur, conférencier, j'ai parcouru à huit reprises le chemin vers Santiago en empruntant des chemins différents. Depuis le milieu des années 1990, plusieurs dizaines de milliers de Québécoises et de Québécois sont allés marcher sur les chemins qui mènent à Saint-Jacques-de-Compostelle, ce haut lieu de pèlerinage chrétien depuis le Moyen-Age situé au nord-ouest de l'Espagne. Les motivations de ces personnes sont diverses et loin d'être exclusivement religieuses. De retour dans leur pays, certains de ces pèlerins ont démarré des chemins au Québec, afin d'offrir la possibilité de vivre l'expérience de la marche pèlerine de longue durée sans avoir à se déplacer en Europe. A l'été 2016, on comptait 18 de ces chemins. Ils se rattachent, de manière variable, à la longue tradition québécoise de pèlerinages dans nos propres hauts lieux, telle la basilique de Sainte-Anne-de-Beaupré, près de Québec. La marche pèlerine, différente de la marche de longue randonnée classique, constitue un marché en pleine expansion au potentiel économique largement exploité en Europe, mais encore difficile à estimer au Québec, notamment pour nombre de petits villages dévitalisés situés sur ces chemins.

Sacred Journeys in the Counter-Reformation examines long-distance pilgrimages to ancient, international shrines in northwestern Europe in the two centuries after Luther. In this region in the sixteenth and seventeenth centuries, saints’ cults and pilgrimage were frequently contested, more so than in the Mediterranean world. France, the Low Countries and the British Isles were places of disputation and hostility between Protestant and Catholic; sacred landscapes and journeys came under attack and in some regions, were outlawed by the state. Taking as case studies hugely popular medieval shrines such as Compostela, the Mont Saint-Michel and Lough Derg, the impact of Protestant criticism and Catholic revival on shrines, pilgrims’ motives and experiences is examined through life writings, devotional works and institutional records. The central focus is that of agency in religious change: what drove spiritual reform and what were its consequences for the ‘ordinary’ Catholic? This is explored through concepts of the religious self, holy materiality, and sacred space.

L'épisode final fut le plus fort en émotions avec notre arrivée au Cimetière des marins de Fisterra, où Alain a déposé en 2016, les cendres de papy René, comme celui-ci l'avait voulu. La transmission entre Alain et ses enfants est désormais réalisée... Notre ouvrage est agrémenté d'environ 200 clichés couleur.

Mon but est de vous faire découvrir ces témoignages ayant jalonné notre histoire bourguignonne depuis... 1461. Cette nouvelle édition est enrichie d'une quarantaine de nouveaux cas. Certains ont été résolus par des explications logiques, d'autres resterons des énigmes que l'avenir résoudra ou non. Il en manque certainement, notamment ceux de témoins n'ayant pas voulu s'exprimer par peur d'être mal jugé par l'opinion. J'en connais personnellement plusieurs. N'ayant pas vocation d'en juger le bien-fondé, je laisse volontiers à chacun d'entre vous d'exprimer votre libre-arbitre pour forger votre opinion personnelle tout en gardant une ouverture d'esprit. L'esprit critique constructif évite de croire à n'importe quoi, sans discernement. Des histoires à découvrir et à déguster sans modération.
