Surviving Stolen Innocence is my book and personal testimony of how I survived childhood rape. God blessed me with a warrior spirit that would not permit me to remain a victim. When a joyous event occurred in my brother's life, I was forced to face, finally, the residue of that long-buried violation. Healing is not an overnight process; it requires much work and soul searching. In bowing to the process of healing, I was able to admit I had a problem, accept that I had been sexually violated, acknowledge my self-worth, acquire a new outlook on life, and establish a new dating life with God. Additionally, I came to learn that in order for me to truly live a healthier life; I had to embrace endless hours of praying, fasting, and putting forth genuine effort. Surviving stolen innocence is an ongoing process of breaking free from the bondage of embarrassment, hurt, anger, disappointment, revenge, unforgiveness, low self-esteem, unworthiness, and any other negative emotion as a result of one's pureness of body, mind, and life being tainted by another person's immoral or unethical acts. These acts or behavior could be, but not limited to, rape, domestic or emotional abuse, bullying, false imprisonment, or murder of a loved one, etc. In essence, in spite of being a victim of a random, impure act, choose to be a victor. You are well worth the survival!

In this revised edition, the author delves deeper into the personal experiences described in his original publication. From the first page to the last, the reader is entrusted with details few are willing to share. An honest and open recounting of child abuse from a man who suffered through and survived years of horrific episodes. With glowing reviews from other survivors who read his original work, the author was inspired to entrust the reader with what many would consider too intimate to share experiences in an even greater attempt to bring child abuse into mainstream discussion.

Silence Broken and Stigmas Shattered -- Help for Incest Survivors Is Here Fans of Erin Merryn's heart-wrenching debut memoir Stolen Innocence were left wondering at the end what would become of an emotionally fragile Erin after her confrontation with the reality of being a child of incest and molestation. In Living for Today, readers find that Erin cultivated the strength to face her abuser and eventually facilitated and experienced relief from years of emotional restlessness, while also igniting the beginnings of a new fearless journey. Living for Today chronicles that journey, which began with the unearthing of private shame and releasing of ugly memories and letting go of guilt and becoming the mouthpiece of millions of her generation. Through her compelling narrative, readers will learn how they, too, can: Learn to look forward, in spite of an abusive past Block off any impending guilt from outing an abuser Deal with interfamily strife as a result of incest and molestation Shake off the "victim" tag and replace it with one that reads "survivor" Living for Today is Merryn's contribution to an audience that has felt victimized, ashamed, isolated, and silenced by its abusers and offers a roadmap for self-discovery, forgiveness, and empowerment to help readers rid the stigma they have attached to their trauma and live fully and fearlessly for today.
