Suspicions Of Markets written by Donald Rutherford and has been published by Springer this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2016-10-06 with Business & Economics categories.

In this work, Rutherford reviews why Adam Smith, Hayek, Mises and others praised economic markets, with a view to understanding, in contrast, historical attacks on markets dating as far back as Aristotle. The market has long been criticized as an inappropriate method of allocation, encouraging market participants to misbehave for the sake of personal gain, and creating an impersonal new market culture. This book traces how such attacks have become more vociferous in recent centuries, especially with the rise of socialism. Most recently the critique has broadened to include toxic markets and the excessive marketization of activities hitherto external to the market. Analysing these major criticisms, as well as the value of regulation, utopias and virtue ethics as a means of avoiding future suspicions of markets, the author lays the groundwork for the reader’s own assessment of the arguments, and concludes by posing suggestions of how best we might cope with flawed markets in the future.

Social media can help investors gather and share information about stock markets. However, it also presents opportunities for fraudsters to spread false or misleading statements in the marketplace. Analyzing millions of messages sent on the social media platform Twitter about small capitalization firms, we find that an abnormally high message activity on social media is associated with a large price increase on the event day and followed by a sharp price reversal over the next week. Our findings are consistent with the patterns of a pump-and-dump scheme, where fraudsters use social media to temporarily inflate the price of small capitalization stocks. To differentiate between the effects of overoptimism by noise traders and the illegal gains of a pump-and-dump scheme, we investigate social interactions between Twitter users through the use of network theory. We identify several clusters of users with suspicious online activity (stock promoters, fake accounts, automatic postings), favoring the manipulation/promotion hypothesis over the behavioral hypothesis.

Markets are increasingly used as information aggregation mechanisms to predict future events. If policy makers make use markets, parties may attempt to manipulate the market in order to influence decisions. We experimentally find that policymakers could still benefit from following information contained in market prices. Nonetheless, manipulation is detrimental. First, manipulators affect market prices, making them less informative. Second, when there are manipulators, policy makers often ignore - or even act against - the information revealed in market prices. Finally, mere suspicion of manipulation erodes trust in the market, leading to the implementation of suboptimal policies - even without actual manipulation.

The global financial markets turn over billions of dollars daily. An array of different instruments is available to trade in these markets, ranging from simple stocks and shares to exotic creatures such as butterfly spreads. Participation at any level involves taking a view as to which way the market in question will move. There are essentially only two methods for analysing the future direction of the markets in equities, currencies, interest rates or commodities: one involves fundamental analysis, the other technical analysis. The two camps of investment analysts are separated by a wide gulf of distrust and suspicion. This book seeks to bridge the gap between the two disciplines and show how you can benefit from both, highlighting: • The tools you can use for mapping the markets—to understand what causes shifts in the trend and underlying forces that affect the economy and therefore the financial markets • The long-term cyclical drivers—how economic change is triggered by technological change, and the technological changes that will drive the markets in the future • Downward phases of the cycle—and the factors that cause them • The markets and sectors that will prosper in the future. As the world of investment gets ever more complicated and faster, Mapping the Markets will provide an invaluable route to improving your chances of investment success and avoiding investment distress, whether you are a long-term investor or a short-term trader.

The Little Book Of Market Manipulation written by Gregory J Durston and has been published by Waterside Press this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2020-01-29 with Law categories.

Market manipulation comes in many forms. For a wrong that some say started life with groups of men dressed in Bourbon uniforms spreading false information in cod French accents, the speed of change has accelerated dramatically in the modern era, via the Internet, novel forms of electronic communication, ultra-fast computer-generated trading, new types of financial instruments, and increased globalisation. This means that opportunities for carrying-out new forms of manipulation now exist on an exponential scale. Looks at the mechanisms, criminal and civil, to confront market manipulation, its enforcement regimes, legal and evidential rules and potential loopholes. Shows how every individual involved in market transactions can fall foul of the law if they do not ensure integrity in their dealings. The ‘tricks’ used by those seeking to benefit from this special category of fraud and the relationship of dedicated provisions to the general law is outlined, with key statutory provisions set out in an appendix. A valuable accompaniment to The Little Book of Insider Dealing (Waterside Press, 2018). An invaluable pocket guide and law primer. An essential guide for investors. With practical examples and decided cases. An up-to-date treatment of a fast-moving topic. Describes both criminal and regulatory regimes. Contents include Forms of Market Manipulation; Suspicion, Identification, Detection and Investigation; Obligations and Enforcement; Criminal Offences, Defences and Punishment; Regulatory Provisions and Penalties; Evidence; Acronyms; Select Bibliography; Key Statutory Provisions and Index.

In 2014 Barbados introduced a vaccine to prevent certain strains of the human papillomavirus (HPV) and reduce the risk of cervical cancer in young women. Despite the disproportionate burden of cervical cancer in the Caribbean, many Afro-Barbadians chose not to immunize their daughters. In Suspicion, Nicole Charles reframes Afro-Barbadian vaccine refusal from a question of hesitancy to one of suspicion. Drawing on ethnographic fieldwork, black feminist theory, transnational feminist studies and science and technology studies, Charles foregrounds Afro-Barbadians' gut feelings and emotions and the lingering trauma of colonial and biopolitical violence. She shows that suspicion, far from being irrational, is a fraught and generative affective orientation grounded in concrete histories of mistrust of government and coercive medical practices foisted on colonized peoples. By contextualizing suspicion within these longer cultural and political histories, Charles troubles traditional narratives of vaccine hesitancy while offering new entry points into discussions on racialized biopolitics, neocolonialism, care, affect, and biomedicine across the Black diaspora. ▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬ What If Technical Analysis Is a Lie? ▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬ Something That Doesn't Work and Never Has... Look at all the courses on the internet claiming you will be a millionaire from using Technical Analysis! How someone with just $500 in their bank account made a $100,000 in 3 days. And all you have to do is look for a pattern on a chart and follow their advice. Seem too good to be true... that's because it is! Hi, my name is Tim Morris. I've been trading stocks for many years, and have a great bit of experience in the markets. I'm here today to cut through the lies, and give you the cold hard truth about technical analysis. The truth other "educators" won't tell you. The truth you deserve to know. That technical analysis is complete bullshit! Here's What You'll Learn In This Book: ► Introduction: My Story - Before the book begins, I share with you my own roller coaster experience with technical analysis, and how I stumbled upon the information that I reveal in this book. The information that confirmed my suspicions that technical analysis is, and always has been, bullshit. ► Chapter 1: Analyzing the Markets - First we go over the main ways traders are taught how to analyze the markets and make money in stocks. This would include both fundamental and technical analysis, as well as a few other hypotheses that have been proposed about how the stock market operates. ► Chapter 2: Classic Technical Analysis - In this chapter, I explain the way classic technical analyze is taught to traders in books, video courses, and subscription services across the web. This includes: ▷ Patterns - Cup and Handle, Head and Shoulders, Flags, Triangles, Double Tops, and Many More ▷ Indicators - RSI, MACD, Stochastics, Moving Averages, Bollinger Bands, Divergence, Volume ▷ Tools - Fibonacci Retracement, Fibonacci Projection, and Elliott Wave Theory ► Chapter 3: The Issues - This is the heart of the book and where I really lay down the hammer. I go over the many flaws that are brazenly apparent in the technical analysis theory, that you've likely never heard of. ▷ Can TA really be used in all time frames? ▷ Does TA really work in all financial markets? ▷ Has anyone actually made their money with TA? ▷ Have the inventors of TA indicators actually made money with their own indicators? ▷ I reference charts, statistics, and studies, as well as expert testimonial from PhD economists and other traders in the field. *Warning* You will be shocked and stunned by what is revealed in this chapter. ► Chapter 4: The Verdicts - In the last chapter, we go over the final verdicts of each technical analysis tool brought up previously in the book. I explain which tools are worthless, which are plausible, and which actually work. Notice I said mostly bullshit. There are a couple useful tools! ► Bonus Chapter: Japanese Candlesticks ━═━═━═━═━═━═━ As a complimentary bonus, only for book buyers, you'll receive my special report titled Crush the Market!
