Tony Fels traces a remarkable shift in scholarly interpretations of the Salem witch hunt from the post-World War II era up through the present. In Switching Sides, Tony Fels explains that for a new generation of historians influenced by the radicalism of the New Left in the 1960s and early 1970s, the Salem panic acquired a startlingly different meaning. Determined to champion the common people of colonial New England, dismissive toward liberal values, and no longer instinctively wary of utopian belief systems, the leading works on the subject to emerge from 1969 through the early 2000s highlighted economic changes, social tensions, racial conflicts, and political developments that served to unsettle the accusers in the witchcraft proceedings. These interpretations, still dominant in the academic world, encourage readers to sympathize with the perpetrators of the witch hunt, while at the same time showing indifference or even hostility toward the accused. Switching Sides is meticulously documented, but its comparatively short text aims broadly at an educated American public, for whom the Salem witch hunt has long occupied an iconic place in the nation’s conscience. Readers will come away from the book with a sound knowledge of what is currently known about the Salem witch hunt—and pondering the relationship between works of history and the ideological influences on the historians who write them. “With vivacious prose, palpable passion, and powerful reasoning, he delivers a book that is dramatic and dynamic. A rare work of critical historiography that could actually matter, Switching Sides is a brilliant and impassioned volume that will be a must-read for all students of early America.” —Michael W. Zuckerman, author of Peaceable Kingdoms

Mastering the Art of International Mooting: The structure, technique and rules of international mooting is a book that can be used by all levels of law students regardless of their background with international mooting. As law schools around the world develop courses that deal with international mooting, a practical technique-based mooting book will greatly add to the resources for this type of course. This book sets out the nature of the mooting exercise; the rationale for the exercise; how to analyse the fact-patterns; how to research and write skeleton arguments; and how to prepare for oral submissions. This book is unique, in that it provides strategies for moot students on how to deal with situations which may arise at international competitions. Examples of possible addresses to the Court are provided in the book, giving students options of what to say and do in specific situations. While this book also speaks about how to prepare for competitions, it also speaks to coaches of mooting teams. Strategies and tips are provided to present and future coaches in respect of selection of moot teams and judging mooting competitions. It is hoped that this book will increase the standard of mooting and eventual advocacy of law students and eventually lawyers.

Coming Soon! This is the second book in a complex espionage mystery series with multiple twists set during the reign of Cyrus the Great -- delving deep into the intrigue, danger, and romance of the ancient world. As Babylon's once-mighty empire stands on the brink of collapse, Thalia — a young physician trained in Persia and Ephesos — joins her betrothed, the Greek satrap Kratos, on a diplomatic mission. But when forgotten memories resurface, she begins once again to question the loyalties that had long seemed so clear. Caught in the shadows of political intrigue and espionage, Thalia must decide where her allegiance truly lies in a world where good and evil blur together. Amid assassinations, shifting alliances, and dangerous secrets, a clean yet fiery enemies-to-lovers subplot unfolds between a conflicted warrior and a reluctant heroine rival on opposing sides of the conflict. Their relationship simmers beneath the surface, adding passion and complexity to the tale's atmosphere without overshadowing its heart-pounding twists. As war looms and Cyrus the Great's forces gather on Babylon's horizon, Thalia must navigate a web of hidden motives and moral uncertainty to uncover the truth—not only about the world around her but about herself.
