Gewalt in der Pflege alter Menschen ist systemimmanent, da Gewalt nicht nur personell, sondern auch strukturell und kulturell wirksam wird. Die vorliegende Studie liefert eine ausführliche Übersicht zu den Ursachen und Präventionsmöglichkeiten auf den verschiedenen Ebenen. Vertiefend werden fehlende Fähigkeiten im Bereich der Personalkompetenz als beteiligter Faktor an der Entstehung von personeller Gewalt untersucht. Als relevante Fähigkeiten wurden dabei Reflexions- und Empathiefähigkeit sowie Kreativität identifiziert. Auf der Grundlage konstruktivistischer Überlegungen wurde ein Unterrichtsprojekt mit Altenpflegeschüler/innen im dritten Ausbildungsjahr durchgeführt, welches diese Fähigkeiten steigern sollte. Die Ergebnisse werden hinsichtlich ihrer Bedeutung für Gewaltprävention und ethische Entscheidungsfindung in der Altenpflege, sowie für die theoretische und praktische Altenpflegeausbildung interpretiert.

Diplomarbeit aus dem Jahr 2006 im Fachbereich Soziale Arbeit / Sozialarbeit, Note: 1, Hochschule Hannover, Sprache: Deutsch, Abstract: Wer kennt sie nicht, die Schlagzeilen über „den Krankenpfleger“, der in einem Pflegeheim zahlreiche ältere Menschen umgebracht hat. Oder die Fernsehreportage, über die schlechte Situation in der stationären und ambulanten Pflege. Diese Artikel und Berichte erzählen von älteren Menschen, die in einem Pflegeheim oder durch einen ambulanten Pflegedienst gepflegt werden. Es ist jedoch nur die eine Hälfte der pflegebedürftigen Menschen in Deutschland, über die dort berichtet wird. Die andere Hälfte wird ausschließlich von ihren Angehörigen in der häuslichen Umgebung gepflegt. Dort, in den „eigenen vier Wänden“ finden all die Dinge, von denen in den Re-portagen, Artikeln und Berichten erzählt wird, genauso statt. Nur wird dieses von außen kaum bemerkt. Gewalt findet sowohl in der professionellen Pflege wie auch in der Angehörigenpflege statt. Während jedoch in den Pflegeeinrichtungen und in der ambulanten Pflege eine Kontrolle durch andere Pflegekräfte stattfindet oder stattfinden sollte, verläuft die Angehörigenpflege oftmals in völliger Anonymität. Dadurch bleibt die Gewalt in diesem Bereich noch öfter unbemerkt als dies im professionellen Bereich der Fall ist. Neben meinem Studium arbeite ich in einer Tagespflegeeinrichtung für ältere Menschen. Zu meinem Aufgabenbereich gehört unter anderem auch die Organisation von Pflegekursen für pflegende Angehörige. Durch diese Aufgabe und durch die Bearbeitung von Anfragen für die Tagespflege, hatte ich in den letzten zwei Jahren viele Möglichkeiten mit pflegenden Angehörigen zu sprechen. In diesen Gesprächen kam ich oft in eine Beratungssituation, da die meisten Angehörigen von pflegebedürftigen Menschen nur ein begrenztes Wissen über Pflege, rechtliche Situation, Entlastungs- und Unterstützungsmöglichkeiten, Krankheitsbilder und ähnlichem haben. Oftmals sind sie mit ihrer Situation völlig überlastet.
