Subsea Control And Data Acquisition written by L. Adriaansen and has been published by John Wiley & Sons this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2004-11-19 with Science categories.

Dealing exclusively with underwater instrumentation, control, and communication technology for subsea oil and gas production, Subsea Control and Data Acquisition has been structured to cover relevant experience and challenges in frontier subsea developments. Aimed at professionals active in subsea production systems, in particular those engaged in the control and monitoring of such installations, and engineers keen to keep abreast of current practice and technologies, this volume covers operational experience of long offset control and monitoring, as well as enhanced oil recovery and discusses relevant topics in subsea and hole monitoring, such as, Reliability Enhanced oil recovery Subsea and down hole monitoring Long offset control Subsea communication/control Reliability of systems plays a dominant role, and the effect of regional legislation is not forgotten; this volume includes contributions from experienced experts from major oil companies to challenge the reader. Real Time Coastal Observing Systems For Marine Ecosystem Dynamics And Harmful Algal Blooms written by Babin, Marcel and has been published by UNESCO this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2008-06-05 with Nature categories.

The proliferation of harmful phytoplankton in marine ecosystems can cause massive fish kills, contaminate seafood with toxins, impact local and regional economies and dramatically affect ecological balance. Real-time observations are essential for effective short-term operational forecasting, but observation and modelling systems are still being developed. This volume provides guidance for developing real-time and near real-time sensing systems for observing and predicting plankton dynamics, including harmful algal blooms, in coastal waters. The underlying theory is explained and current trends in research and monitoring are discussed.Topics covered include: coastal ecosystems and dynamics of harmful algal blooms; theory and practical applications of in situ and remotely sensed optical detection of microalgal distributions and composition; theory and practical applications of in situ biological and chemical sensors for targeted species and toxin detection; integrated observing systems and platforms for detection; diagnostic and predictive modelling of ecosystems and harmful algal blooms, including data assimilation techniques; observational needs for the public and government; and future directions for research and operations.

The Near Surface Layer Of The Ocean written by Alexander Soloviev and has been published by Springer Science & Business Media this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2006-03-13 with Science categories.

Until the 1980s, a tacit agreement among many physical oceanographers was that nothing deserving attention could be found in the upper few meters of the ocean. The lack of adequete knowledge about the near-surface layer of the ocean was mainly due to the fact that the widely used oceanographic instruments (such as bathythermographs, CTDs, current meters, etc.) were practically useless in the upper few meters of the ocean. Interest in the ne- surface layer of the ocean rapidly increased along with the development of remote sensing techniques. The interpretation of ocean surface signals sensed from satellites demanded thorough knowledge of upper ocean processes and their connection to the ocean interior. Despite its accessibility to the investigator, the near-surface layer of the ocean is not a simple subject of experimental study. Random, sometimes huge, vertical motions of the ocean surface due to surface waves are a serious complication for collecting quality data close to the ocean surface. The supposedly minor problem of avoiding disturbances from ships’ wakes has frustrated several generations of oceanographers attempting to take reliable data from the upper few meters of the ocean. Important practical applications nevertheless demanded action, and as a result several pioneering works in the 1970s and 1980s laid the foundation for the new subject of oceanography – the near-surface layer of the ocean.

“How do the oceans work?” Essentials of Oceanography, Eleventh Edition, takes an interdisciplinary approach to help readers answer this question. The latest edition brings together the interrelated spheres that compose Earth's systems as they relate to the oceans: geological, chemical, physical, and biological. Trujillo and Thurman balance rigor and accessibility, combining in-depth discussions of oceanographic concepts with highly visual and interactive features to demystify the subject for the non-scientist. This unique combination has made Essentials of Oceanography the best-selling brief book—and one of the best-sellers overall—in oceanography.
