Elbette bütün bu olayları anlatmak için ciltler dolusu ansiklopedilerin yazılması gerekir. Böyle bir imkânımın da şu an için mümkün olmayacağından, Türk siyasi tarihinin belli bir dönemini yine belli bir unsuru olan Oğuz Türkleri (Selçuklu, Osmanlı, Türkiye Cumhuriyeti) ve devamı olanların tarihinde meydana gelen bazı önemli siyasi ve sosyal olaylar ele alınacaktır. Bu yüzden kitabın konu başlıkları şu şekildedir; Türklerin Araplar ve İslamiyet’le tanışması ile başlayarak Osmanlı döneminde Türk-Fransız ilişkilerinin ardından Türk-Avrupa münasebetleri ile gelişecek. Devamında Yakınçağ ile Osmanlı coğrafyasında yaşanan felaketler anlatılacaktır. Son bölümlerde ise I. Dünya Savaşı ile Türkiye’nin işgal sürecinde gelişen Türk İstiklal Mücadelesi ve Mustafa Kemal Atatürk döneminin önemli siyasi olayları ile son bulacaktır.

"Siyavush of Our Century" was written by political visionary Mammad Amin Rasulzadeh (1884-1955) who headed the Musavat Party and helped set up the Azerbaijan parliamentary democratic republic in 1918, the first such republic of Turks and Muslims in the eastern world. The turmoil of the times, however, proved too much for Rasulzadeh's young government. On April 25, 1920, Bolshevik troops crossed into Azerbaijan and entered Baku on April 28. They demanded the resignation of Azerbaijan's Parliament and set up their own government. The fledgling democracy, in only its 23rd month, collapsed immediately. Azerbaijan remained under communist rule until the collapse of the Soviet Union in 1991. "Siyavush of Our Century" is a unique work of politics & history, philosophy & literature founded upon the ancient myths and legends of the Turkik peoples. It was written in July 1920 and first published in Istanbul in 1925. It is widely recognised as a classic by the people of Azerbaijan.

Paul Wittek’s The Rise of the Ottoman Empire was first published by the Royal Asiatic Society in 1938 and has been out of print for more than a quarter of a century. The present reissue of the text also brings together translations of some of his other studies on Ottoman history; eight closely interconnected writings on the period from the founding of the state to the Fall of Constantinople and the reign of Mehmed II. Most of these pieces reproduces the texts of lectures or conference papers delivered by Wittek between 1936 and 1938 when he was teaching at Université Libré in Brussels, Belgium. The books or journals in which they were originally published are for the most part inaccessible except in specialist libraries, in a period when Wittek's activities as an Ottoman historian, in particular his formulations regarding the origins and subsequent history of the Ottoman state (the "Ghazi thesis"), are coming under increasing study within the Anglo-Saxon world of scholarship. An introduction by Colin Heywood sets Wittek's work in its historical and historiographical context for the benefit of those students who were not privileged to experience it firsthand. This reissue and recontextualizing of Wittek’s pioneering work on early Ottoman history makes a valuable contribution to the field and to the historiography of Asian and Middle Eastern history generally.
