Tinggalan karya itu diselidik dan dikaji sebagai khazanah ilmu yang tidak ternilai harganya. Penulisan ini mengkaji dan menganalisis pengajian tafsir secara keseluruhannya dengan fokus utama adalah perkembangan dan sistem pengajian tafsir di Nusantara. Buku ini turut mengumpulkan karya tafsir yang pernah dihasilkan sambil memperkenalkan tokoh utama dalam pengajian tafsir serta cuba merungkaikan persoalan mengenai perkembangan tafsir dan pengajiannya.
